@Sparta07 Xbox One S is not the Scorpio. They are two completely different rumors. OK one is not a rumor any longer. We will have to wait on the Scorpio rumor maybe they will announce it before the show is over. Probably not. But, here is to hoping.
Edit: Show just ended and to my shock they actually announced Project Scorpio. Exciting times ahead. So they are both no longer rumors. Both Xbox One Slim and the 6TFlop Scorpio are real. One will be here in August the...
Well pricing may be the reason. Different people, different budgets. Supposed this device with the 2TB drive (which I notice people keep missing in the ad above when assuming a low price) is marked at the price of the current PS4 500GB or 1TB model. That means by next year they may move its price down to around $250 or less with the possible release of more powerful device. The rumored Scorpio will be probably released at twice that price at around $499 (would not surprise me if it were...
No. Not Scorpio. Just a smaller version of the current console with some updated components to support better video and possibly the power brick is inside and maybe an IR blaster is built-in. You got another 16 months to wait for that rumored Scorpio device.
So you want them to give you a Slim for $140 (400-60-200)? Then you want Microsoft to give you $300 for trade-in on a device you didn't even spend that much on from your previous trade-in? Good luck on those trade-in deals you want. Not going to happen. I guess we all can dream but, that is one big fantasy you have (don't smoke too much of that wacky-tobacky it distorts reality.)
With a 2 TB drive inside, based on the info in this picture, do you really think it will be priced below $300 (maybe even $350 or $360+ with a game)? I would expect Microsoft will price this device at the current PS4 pricing. I think if people want a deal it be the older design not this model.
Wrong console. This is the slim model. It is a smaller version of the current console - with some minor updates in video output and other internals but, no graphic or processing speed changes. The other device, coming out next year is the Scorpio. That device is rumored to be much faster then a measly 40%. You will need to add another 0 to that percentage. The rumored Scorpio is supposed to be around 4 times or 400% more powerful then the current Xbox One models.
I hope it comes in black too. It it does I will be giving my current Xbox One to my girlfriends sister's son (that's a mouthful) and picking up this baby (as long as all the other rumors are true). As it stands (although I admit white is really nice looking) it just won't work form me. I like the way both my current consoles (a PS4 and a Xbox One) do not stand out from the TV they are under. I am anal in that way. It is the same reason I hate all those TV's that have a b...
If it shrunk it's height and width and retained the depth it can easily be 40% smaller than the original Xbox One. The PS4 hides its size in it's depth (length). People really never realize that the PS4 is larger in this dimension because no one sees the device from this perspective unless they look from above or compare the consoles from the side. Or in my case realize it when trying to squeeze it into a short shelf along with an Xbox One. The PS4 is over 1 1/2" greater in...
Scorpio is not gong to be released this year. And if released Fall 2017, that would be 4 years, and it will fit your acceptable separation between generations.
Hardly. I don't know how you extrapolated that HDMI pass-through will not be in the future devices from a story that Microsoft has put on hold the development of a OTR DVR. Where in that statement does it say anything related to the media features? OTR is quite a small group of users. People who use the pass-through and OneGuide/TV app is definitely not a small percentage of users. According from my own friend list late at night there are quite a large number of users who I see have a st...
First, he didn't invent any of the tech in these devices. He is not a Tony Stark like genius (like someone else here has compared him to - that is just ridiculous and more annoying then some one who doesn't know who he is). He just invested in (not invented) and has the gumption to follow through with money and time. That much he deserves credit for and I give him 100% for having a Steve Jobs like vision and direction. Was Jobs t...
Yes they are merging all stores into one (announced at GDC in March). Insiders that have been accepted into the Anniversary preview will probably start seeing this merge soon.
Exactly. For some reason people think producers are going to ignore such a large population of potentials sales. It will take another 4 years or so for any new PS box to reach the current PS4 box numbers. Why would a developer ignore millions of dollars of additional sales? All because they didn't take time to optimize for a slightly less powerful chipset.
Now the rumored higher end specs on the Scorpio and it's total lower number of Xbox One console sales may ...
If release timing is your only complaint then you shouldn't have a problem with Scorpio. If the rumors are to believed, it's release is a year off. So, it means it will be 4 years and meet your personal requirements for a mid-release. Otherwise, I agree with everything you wrote.
Not too be a buzz kill. It is more about VR for Windows desktop then a possible Scorpio link. I don't see any chance that Microsoft would announce or relate anything to Scorpio 18 months before a rumored device release. Doing so has no upsides at this point only negatives as it would eat into their current Xbox sales (and slim). It would be better to slowly increase the rumors at Gamescon and present the rumored device next year.
If that were the case Sony is bigger trouble then we think. They invest a lot of money in TV and other electronics but, those divisions are sinking fast (makes Kin & Zune failures look like a blips). Like all R&D some fail, some are successful. But, mostly things fail. Do you actually believe that PSVR is not using tech created from failures at other Sony divisions? Display tech? Or is not using research and patents from other companies. Companies that failed many times along the ...
First you are confusing Moore's Law with "Elektranine's Law of Confusion". Moore's law states that the number transistors will double every 2 years. This has been expanded by others to mean every 18 months the power of devices will double. Moore's Law has slowed down quite a bit since 2012. But, strangely the power of chips has increased at a rate as if it still existed and was valid.
In truth Moore's law is more of a theory than a law. But...
@Jburr94 No they won't do that. The whole purpose of the Neo is not 4K gaming or 4K video. The former is really pipe dream with the tech now (even with the Scorpio specs), the later could have been done with similar upgrade that is in the rumored Xbox One slim. So knowing this, the real reason for the Neo is for a more fluid VR experience. Nothing else really fits. Delaying the Neo would not be beneficial for Sony's planned PSVR release this fall.
@Zeref Scropio is still not going to happen this year whether Neo is confirmed to be at E3 or not. If the rumors of 5-6 TFLOPS for Scorpio is to be believed then next year will be it. As no reasonable priced tech is ready to support that big of jump in graphics spec this year. Just because Sony has something does not mean Microsoft will bring something. That is exactly what they did last time when the consoles were announced in 2013. The Xbox One was actually supposedly released a year e...
Unless the Scorpio is coming out in the next 6 months there will be no official announcement on it at E3. Doing so would be detrimental to any sales of the slim, mini and original Xbox One's. Plus, if as the rumors have stated, we are really talking over a year and half from now for the Scorpio Microsoft will have not locked down the choices in hardware specs. However, you are right this E3 is going to be fun with all the other announcements from Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo.
