G4 is a joke. The review Morgan Webb did for Metroid other M was just ridiculous, everything she complained about has been in a Metroid game previously. And then she claimed to be a huge Metroid fan. I stopped watching G4 so long ago, but it's sad to see even Sessler pulling this crap now. He was the only one giving unbiased reviews for a while there. I don't care. I believe there are some games meant to be played with other people in the room with you, that was a huge part of the experience with this on GBA and the original starfox 64 multiplayer. The Metroid Prime Trilogy is still my favourite game purchase ever, all three games are masterpieces and having the first two in widescreen with the motion controls of the third is just awesome. MP3 is also what first showed me that motion controls can really improve the experience of a game if used well.
I was pretty sure for it to be 1st party that means it was made by Nintendo themselves. I may be wrong though there could be more to it than that, but you are right about not making the Wii region free. Then even if we couldn't get a legitimate localization we could still play them. Nintendo of America is the real problem here though. I love Nintendo, but I HATE Nintendo of America because they always screw us over with stuff like this. If you can't go backwards in graphics i'm sorry but you sound like you've been spoiled as they progress. You shouldn't change how you felt about older games just because new ones look amazing.
Could you post valid reasons for your dislike of it? Also they were made easier so more people could get into the series, while keeping the later stars pretty challenging. And come on older games (NES and SNES) were made hard as hell because if you weren't dying constantly you would finish the game really fast. Now things are "hard" in a more complex way but still seem easier than those games because they aren't crushingly difficult.

Reviewers really need to get their facts straight. It's not a port, the gyro controls work perfectly if you calibrate it on a flat surface like it tells you to (I mean come on I went through the whole game using just one hand,) he didn't even mention expert mode, and he couldn't even tell that all the voices were redone by most of the same voice actors.
Slightly enhanced port my ass. Oh and I can use the motion controls just fine without turning the 3D off. Hell I can do it with one arm.
I still don't see why motion controls get called a gimmick. Sure they aren't for everyone, but you can't tell everyone who can use them properly that it's a gimmick. And honestly if you can't figure out how to work them correctly, that's your problem not mine. Same thing with 3D and touch controls, not for everyone but a large amount of people love them.

Then turn it off. Its not like you're forced to use it, and its way more challenging without it. Also why would they go backwards in gameplay? It would be too simple, and it wouldn't sell well. Then they'd get criticized for not coming up with anything new. So I'd say hope for a more innovative battle system that moves the genre forward. But nothing will ever satisfy everyone, since the fan base for the series has become so large.
XII was amazing. I still need to find another copy of it so I can finally finish it.
