I love this game, I beat it at least 5 times within a year of it releasing. I'd say it's the most underrated game I've ever played. It was revolutionary in almost everything it did gameplay wise, and it was so much fun! I loved switching between 3rd and 1st person.
Team Ninja only made the gameplay they had nothing to do with the story. That was all Nintendo.

The biggest difference next gen will be in processing. How many objects can be on screen, better framerates that are more consistent, better anti-aliasing, better lighting effects, larger areas...you get the idea. When I saw Square Enix's next gen tech demo, the details are not what impressed me because some of the textures looked almost exactly like textures on current HD consoles. The effects are what blew me away, making the entire picture look incredibly polished like a CG cutscene.

Dark Souls is like a modern day NES game. What I mean by that is that it's all trial and error, and requires memorization of levels similar to memorizing levels in the original super mario bros. No one is forcing anybody to buy a circle pad pro and it is not necessary to play any game. Come on the Wii did just fine with one analog stick and that was a home console. They used the motion controls as a replacement, which the 3DS has as well as touch controls. So I don't plan on ever buying the circle pad pro since it works perfectly fine without it.

Ocarina of time: Still a lot of backtracking with "fake" freedom in the fact that they made you feel like there was more. You backtrack to the forest, kakariko, lake hylia and zora's domain, the desert as a kid and adult, death mountain.
