I'm pretty sure the river run in the original game took me a solid three or four tries, if not more. Luckily, video games aren't real life, or this could be bats#!t crazy, yep.

Doubtful that there won't be some mechanic to get across the world in a super quick fashion. Expect something Bethesda-style and unique. Like hitching a ride on your robot companion.

Oh they've already said there are PLENTY of new death animations. Good luck.

Hi BrandanT.
The estimate of the scale is based on the size of Skyrim to just under three times the size of Skyrim, which is where most estimates are putting the size of the game, and Todd Howard has said it might be about the size of Skyrim. Of course no one will know the actual size until the game's release, but that is why there is such a huge range from our minimum to maximum guess.

145,800 is not 5.2 square miles. It's something like 0.005 square miles.
The map says that one segment is 60m, and there are 27x27 of them.
(60*27)(60*27) = 2,624,000 square metres.

Using his foot-based measurements:
(200*27)(200*27) = 29,160,000 square feet.

The original poster is estimating and clearly has no spatial concept whatsoever. He clearly means that each segment is 200 square feet, not 200 feet in length. At an average hou...

Yeah, 60m x 27 segments is about 1.6km for the entire map height, same for width. A square mile? Nahh. Must be waaaaay off. Perhaps by a factor of 100x, or even more.

Sleeper masterpiece of the holiday season. Will be under appreciated, which is a shame as it looks fantastic.

I think the next open world game will be Zelda for Wii U / NX, and after that is when we'll see what Nintendo is capable of with a Pokémon title.

That said, I think it'll be a new style of game, much the same way Super Mario Bros and Zelda made the jump to 3D on the N64. Pokémon is the first game that has yet to jump into 3D with the exception of games that are using the universe but not the traditional handheld Pokémon gameplay (Pokémon Stadium, P...

I feel like Pokémon GO will essentially be Pokémon Snap 2 with the AR camera features.

As for the open world Pokémon RPG, it absolutely has to be on the NX so that the portable component is there, but there are cool things to do when you're at home on the console, too. Much like the character would do in real life if he were home looking at the Pokédex or on the computer researching new creatures.

I have to think the Xbox One is nicer only because it doesn't look like a series of stickers. The Xbox is definitely a more in your face controller, but the PS4 one is not only stickers, they're poorly placed.

Also, just noticed that the d-pad on the Xbox One controller is custom for the controls of the game on the left and right buttons. That's pretty neat stuff.

Saw that image, literally laughed out loud, someone in my house woke up.

That would certainly be ideal. It would be interesting to see how it works in an ecosystem like Apple's whereby the app purchase history is all via iTunes, not through the publisher.

Dude, don't post actual spoilers of Halo 5. You should really remove your comment.

Also: spoiler for the ending of Halo 4, when the Didact, you know, dies.

This is perfect for Nintendo fans. Create your own Zelda pillow, or Mario blanket, baby items, etc.
I don't know if I'll be able to resist all these!

OK, @ShottyAtLaw and @MELMAN26:
The fact that it is not on television in any syndicated, broadcast, or streamed form, is what makes it not a television show. It is live-action, it has actors, and it is roughly 22 minutes in length, but it is not on TV, so it is not a TV show by definition.

The gimmick is calling something what it is not.

In the same way that you can film a 22-minute live-action video with real actors and high production quality and pu...

@Sureshot, oh the production quality is up there, for sure. The cutscenes look great! I just think that the fact that they're not on TV or syndicated/on Netflix/Hulu or some other service makes them inherently just live action cutscenes, not a TV show.

@mhunterjr, In the article, when I write about what varies on in-game decision, I actually talk about how I like that idea, but that isn't what makes the cutscenes not a TV show. The fact that they're not on TV make...

I don't remember seeing a single QTE at any point during any demo.

3850d ago 9 agree5 disagreeView comment

The experience is being billed as a video game and a concurrent television show. Having live action cutscenes does not mean you have a TV show. The fact that those cutscenes are 22 minutes and have Hollywood actors also doesn't make it a TV show.
Those are the points in the article.
As we say, the concept of the game is very exciting, but it's being sold as a bit of a gimmick.
