The article claimed 75% of Live users are Gold subscribers, but the only semi-official numbers have been just above 50% if I don't remember wrong, but yeah Live will not be free with almost 10 million subscribers.
I don't have issue with the $40-50/annual subscription fee though, as Live is just adding new stuff in leaps and bounds. There is so much content on there that frankly don't have time to peruse and I love Netflix!

I don't think the price cut is official in territories outside of the US on the Xbox 360 Elite. The only place that have reported that PS3 Slim is sold early with support from Sony is the US....

Sorry, but the list of things you listed are just natural progression. The only new thing is the new sound capabilities that as I said only a fraction will use. I would take the Linux option any day, but that is arguably as little used as the newly added sound options. Although I think the Linux option adds a lot more possibilities on the PS3.
I will never use the sound option as I don't have the equipment nor do I want to invest into it.

Get on with it, there is nothing expected about anything, just offers. If you don't like it don't buy it, but personally I would be upset at a company that is going backwards removing features instead of adding them!

in most places in the world, whites are considered the "higher classed" race. This means that white is universally accepted most places.
Most other races don't get close to this recognition, but Asians are getting mighty close on the coast in the US.

With every iteration of the PS3, it has been downgraded. The only upgrade I have seen is the sound, which to majority is useless. However, we asked for it via price cuts!
MS has added HDMI, but of course people complain about added value....
It was more Sony and Nintendo launched late while MS launched on time.
On the other hand, if they all launched at the same time, Xbox 360 hardware probably would have been more comparable to PS3.

Yes, it was! Especially if you bought it at the $500 price level with the 5 blu-ray. That is because Sony cut out important features for every new model they introduced!!!
Seeing how Sony first introduced the slim with a price drop scheduled for September 1st. MS responded with a price cut on the Xbox 360 Elite for the same time frame. Sony then responds with allowing the sale of PS3 Slims early....
I guess they are both (Sony and MS) desperate and a win for consumers!!!
