I don't entirely understand the point of these "emulated" experience to be frank. You have a bunch of games that get HD Remasters and cost $40 for usually 2 games in a series. They do all the same things - pretty up the resolution, add trophies, up the framerate, etc. They also generally pretty up the textures, tweak gameplay, fix existing bugs if necessary...things that don't happen in emulation.

But honestly, how much more expensive can the HD Remasters be...

@smashman So does that really make it the worst game out of ALL the games released in 2015? Certainly it is an opinion, and it is his right as well as your own. But it did have great graphics, a very good soundtrack, a decent story, fun weapons...it was just too guided/linear an experience for most people.

Then look at one of the other games on that list. Hatred. That was a mediocre game from the start with shittier production values and meant to get its attention from its ex...

I agree. So apparently being unenthralling is the greatest sin you can commit? Among all the other failures and flops and broken games over the entirety of 2015? Come on Yahtzee, I have more faith in you than that.

The game wasn't buggy. The game wasn't broken. The game wasn't a disaster. It looked great and played...fine. I liked it. Liked is the highest praise I'll give it. It just had too much hype attached, and then had the unfortunate luck of getting pann...

Well yea...that's what reviews and lists are. Subjective. There is no "objectively" correct favorites or lists that cannot be argued with. I'm not sure why people feel the need to put "your opinion" or "subjective" on other peoples comments. Rarely do people make statements that are supposed to be interpreted as anything other than opinion.

And, IMHO, that is an undeniable fact! Opinio-fact.

Agreed on all accounts, and yet I'm still of two minds. I find it funny that people keep saying "too expensive for the average consumer". This isn't even relatively CLOSE to being aimed at the average consumer. Hell, I believe nVidia said only about 1% of PCs meet or exceed the minimum specifications. Talk about "not your average consumer" eh?

But to be fair $600 is a lot. I love tech. I love games. I am lucky enough to fall into the 1% of PCs tha...

I actually think that, for someone like me, that is actually a pro rather than a con. I'm already paralyzed by choice in terms of what to play from a list of things I already own. If I am given an entire store worth of sales, odds are I'm sticking to what I've already looked into and have on my wishlist.

I can certainly appreciate what you're saying though - tough as it may be for someone like me to operate that way lol.

I think it is simply that after all they have shown off to this point, there would be nothing new to show. They are clearly not coming out as early as Rift and Vive in terms of VR launch, and neither of those companies have given any firm info on price or release date either.

It seems crazy for us to always expect a bunch of new announcements all the time...there can only be so many! But as a non-gaming focused event, it should be even less surprising nothing was truly shown....

Steam sales are good for getting those games you've been waiting to hit an acceptable price. Sure, there are a few games that might be cheap enough for you to take a gamble on, but most people probably don't operate that way when their wishlists are still overpopulated.

Bundles, now there is a great way to discover new games. There are plenty of games I wouldn't have ever bothered to buy on even a steep sale, but have ended up playing them because they've come...

I simply don't get this game at all. I kept dragging my feet on buying it and my friend ended up gifting it to me because he was so anxious for me to join in the fun. The graphics are...meh at best. And it runs just..just...I mean, ugh, awful.

I mean like set it to "medium" on a system with an i5 2500k OCed to 4.3 ghz & a GTX 970 and cross your fingers for 30 FPS. And not really stable either. Had to slap the bloated 40 GB install on my boot drive SSD becaus...

It's odd how some games can manage to look so good on more modest hardware, while other modest games look and run like crap on high end hardware.

The original reboot ran fantastically on Ultra settings even on my travel/LAN "mid-range" PC (e5440 & R9 270). Games like The Talos Principle on Ultra chugs in the 30-40 FPS range on my main system (i5 2500k & GTX 970).

Optimization is a fickle mistress.

Having played a chunk o...

Sadly I think it will struggle. And that's despite the fact I think Hello Games have done as good a job as they can giving everyone a fair look at what the game is and what kind of experience it will be. But the game got stuck in a lot of people's minds as a different kind of game and the hype just kept building as the game kept silently slipping past expected announcements and release dates.

These kinds of games end up collapsing under the weight of their own hype, ...

Same. Had no idea it was an issue but am always glad to take a freebie.

Side note, was going to back Dynasty up a bit on the "haven't used my PS4 in months" comment (ignoring it was phrased poorly) given that I am a big Sony fan, but I haven't been using my consoles (plural, my XBONE/PC also aren't seeing much love from me ATM) much. My gaming in general is down. I had time over the holiday to play, and have more games than I know what to do with. I play...

I'm not a pixel counter. I've never held it as a mark of gaming greatness. But I do have to say you can tell between 900p & 1080p, especially when the native resolution of the monitor/TV is 1080p. I've messed with those resolutions a lot on my PC (especially when I had a weaker card and tried different combos to get the best performance). It's not gamebreaking. It isn't immersion-breaking. But it is noticeable.

That image also shows a HORRENDOUS looking battery pack screwing with the ergonomics. I hated the (comparably) little bump on the 360 controller. Who would want that to return...worse?

Also...I just have a spare set of rechargeable batteries at the ready at all times. And that has the added flexibility of being able to be used with any AA device you have in your house. What is the point of this thing again?

To top it off, I can't see this being priced wel...

It's sad that fine people like ourselves will proofread our comments - even include proper grammar and punctuation - when on the flip side there are so many articles posted here by authors that don't have enough pride to do the same to work they mean to have read en mass. Such an alien concept to me.

Hell, even my web browser has a spellchecker akin to Word. It just seems like your not-giving-a-shit must be borderline purposeful in order to make mistakes as often as I...

Maybe the only time in gaming history a numbered sports game not only gets patched over a year and a half after release, but adds features. If EA produced this, this would be grounds for a Don Bradman Cricket 15/16 without hesitation.

I have similar feelings about my CPU. Have an overclocked i5 2500k and the hobbyist in me wants to upgrade. The sane-financier in me says it makes no sense yet.

A 5 year old GPU is getting to the point that even the financier in me would probably give way to the hobbyist for an upgrade. GPUs have come a long way in that time frame.

I think there should also be some kind of system in place automatically where if you hit an insane purchase amount - say like...$200 total in a month for in-app purchases - you have to do a simple "enter code emailed to account holder to proceed" or something. The odds of even an obsessed adult putting that kind of money into in-app purchases on purpose seems improbable to the point that this step would help 99.99% of people rather than be a hindrance to basically anyone.

First Final Fantasy game I played. Got it from a friend who was gifted it & did not want it. At the time I didn't know I wanted it either. So thankful for that fortuitous turn of events. Just an awesome game, opened me up to RPGs in general.

Tried playing 7 some years later and never finished it. I don't get the love for it and hate for 8. Guess you'll always love your first.

I'm of two minds on this. I have all the old consoles, so I'm totally happy for companies to just focus all their efforts on the future rather than waste them on the past. However all companies reach back to previous gens in some fashion, and I love going back to old games, so let's give credit where it is due here.

Any time a company tries to do something like this, that doesn't cost the consumer anything, that is worth applauding. I only recently got an XONE...
