I'm under the impression all this DLC is timed exclusive and we'll all be able to buy it regardless in a few months. So it really shouldn't matter. Also, am I the only who thinks Omega is something that should've been in the game in the first place?
"The Frostbite engine is one of the few engines that really makes use of the unique capabilities of the Xbox 360 to deliver a truly intense next-generation gaming experience."
Lol. Unique capabilities of the Xbox360? Did I miss something?
Nope. It was $100. I bought a copy of it actually brand new from Japan at launch
I'm still pretty butt hurt about that until this day.
Yep. And not only that, But Square Enix traditionally charges more too in Japan for their titles. A brand new copy of FFXIII costed $100 and a new copy of Birth By sleep costed $70 at launch.
@GodMars,
What the hell are you talking about? XIII-2 appears to be about as far out there as X-2's, if not further. At least with XIII-2, it's a darker story, that carries as much weight as the first title. Also, there is no fal'cie in control in XIII-2.
Well, I'd have to see how good Final Fantasy Versus XIII is to see if I want a Versus XIII-2, personally. But lets not think about that. Lets just worry about the first and only Versus XIII we know of right now.
Admittedly, Twilight Princess played way too much on Ocarina of Time Nostalgia the point where some parts of it tried felt like I was playing an enhance version of Ocarina of time.
However, Skyward Sword really does take the series in a new direction and offers a lot of new innovation, and types of gameplay.
G4 hasn't delivered a relevant opinion in about 6 years.
@NukaCola.
First of all, Final Fantasy X's linearity was beautiful and well done, and contributed to the over all game. Secondly, XII was very big and open. X-2 was actually quite open from the start too. So don't blame X for XIII's design.
It's just that XIII tried to move in the same direction as X, but it did it in a way that made it less impactful due to the lack of Towns, interaction and making you care about the world(s).
@ Pozzle
Kimi Ga Iru kara also was not written for Final Fantasy XIII.
What they're doing is a really common things in Japan. Every single popular JRPG in Japan now has a theme song that wasn't really wrote for the song i.e. Tales of Grace's theme song was Mamoritai by BoA, a popstar one could equate with Leona Lewis over seas.
However with XIII-2 it would seem that New World/Yakusoku no Bashou were actually written for the game. I'm ...
Having a theme song is actually pretty common for Japanese RPG's, Final Fantasy just joined on to that concept.
People always say that if Square Enix was to remake a legendary Final Fantasy, it could turn out catastrophically and different from the original game. With that said if you look at remakes Square has done in the past: Final Fantasy 3 and 4, Kingdom hearts re:Chain of Memories, Square Enix actually has a great record thus far with remakes--it maybe the only thing the company does good actually since the Square Soft days.
And many of the people who worked on Final Fantasy X a...
No, but I think they tried to make it appear like It was.
They tried to make format it for a western audience, and it met with rejection from both sides of the hemisphere.
I think it's shorter because everything has multiple outcomes and multiple endings, this is one of the reasons most Western RPG's aren't as long as JRPG's.
They have not done the lip syncing yet, that's why. This already been confirmed. It will be lip synced in the same way XIII was.
Honestly, what I don't understand is why this game exists if they're doing the MGS HD Collection? Why release two versions of the game with different sort of graphical improvements in each version?
LOL. Yeah. But look at half of the comments screaming doom. It's kinda funny that people here don't understand just how big those movie files are, and that it's not actually "game content" that they're cutting.
Here's how they cut space:
Because they're majorly only using real time cut scenes. This is requirement of the "Live action" and QTEs that happen through out the game. Only 6.8gb of FFXIII was revealed to be Real time data, which makes the actual game content. Which means...yes. Cutting out all the movie scenes, FFXIII was 6.8gb. A lot smaller than you'd imagine.
So yes, there are significantly less pre-rendered cut scenes this time and ...
"He notes that the game uses a game specific engine that’s utilized for action."
No wonder it took so long. It appears they're no longer even using Crystal tools and have developed an entirely new engine just for this game.
Well, I disagree that XIII-2 is a failure thus far, as I haven't played it. So far, the only thing that's disappointed me about XIII-2 is that Lightning isn't the main character and that there are only 2 main characters. That, and lack of summons. Although I'm also under impression again, that there will be some Eidolons will be in the game as "monsters"---hopeful ly ifrit.
