Just learn your history, bro. Prince of Persia inspired the whole swift shimmy climbing mechanics that other games (including Tomb Raider) have been using since 2003. Uncharted is using a clearly Batman inspired combat system.
I'm not putting Uncharted down, but I am saying the sources of inspiration for their combat mechanics.
Uncharted, Tomb Raider, Zelda Skyward Sword, Splinter Cell Conviction and even Enslaved have platforming that is directly influen...
Sorry, but you're completely wrong. The platforming in Uncharted is exactly like a version of the Tomb Raider (since Tomb Raider Legend) and Prince of Persia games.
The way Nathan Drake does his shimmy along walls is exactly like Tomb Raider and Prince of Persia control wise. Many people have took inspiration from that style of controls which was set back in 2003. Even Splinter Cell has hints of it in Conviction. More recently Zelda adopted similar controls.
Sorry, but the platforming for Uncharted feels very much like Prince of Persia and Tomb Raider. The shooting and over the shoulder aiming is hints of Gears of War.
Naughty Dog even said themselves that they got told their game was like PoP / TR and Gears and their reply was along the lines of "How can it be the same as such different games, we mixed mechanics together and made something truly unique" which they did! Their melee in Uncharted3 is clearly inspired by t...
Indie games are built on brilliant ideas and not just threw out there because of a mega budget. It kind of makes me reminiscent of my childhood when games were doing amazing things because of the creativity behind them.
Its amazing how Uncharted was able to take inspiration from a bunch of games and compile them into a package which then sees other developers getting inspired by Uncharted.
Naughty Dog are truly talented and deserve their props.
I promise to give Peace Walker a shot. Its on my to do list.
I'm glad you enjoyed the post and happy that you agree with it.
I agree with what you say about MGS4 completely. I bring the exact same points up when discussing the game. If the game was more like the first 2 acts I would be happy. However, I can still tell it is a MGS game and that is the point I'm making. You don't think it feels like a MGS game then that's fine. Yeah, the game was pretty dire after the first 2 chapters... nothing but that chase quest, action scenes, boss fights and robots. I am VERY disappointed with MGS4.
I have a fear of finishing games. I try and make a game last as long as possible by not playing it continuously/ However, that tends to make certain games impossible to complete for me since I just forget to play them. I am still trying to complete Skyward Sword, but I keep putting it off because I don't want the experience to be over.
The scary thing is that I have had it for a year and have made barely any progress.
I got to admit that I'm a bit nostalgic of memory cards. There was just something about being that guy with all the best saves on his memory card that was brilliant. Then people would ask for my saves etc. I had Memory Cards with certain games on and then other memory cards with other games. They was kind of in order and I could tell which was which because of the stickers I used to put on them.
Trophy progress kind of put a stop to swapping saves with friends... well... ...
Brilliant! Haha :-D
I have my copy of MGS4. I played through it once. It is the only Metal Gear game I have not ran through multiple times. To be fair it just isn't that great. I don't even think a full Substance version would gain my interest. MGO on the other hand was fun as heck. Shame about the crappy konami id.
I see no need to re-buy. Ground Zeroes will blow MGS4 out of the water.
A perfect example of why you should never listen to rumors. just wait for the official statements. Is it really "that" important that you know info before an official word? You are potentially just setting yourself up for disappointment.
Sit back and play it cool. You will get all the official info soon enough. There is no need to go digging. A bit speculation is all good fun though.
The generic shooters are still somewhat mindless fun. I enjoy the big set pieces and fast paced action. I think I will continue to truly love FPS campaigns as long as more games drift off the path that make it a standard shooting game. Metroid Prime had its exploration. in many ways it was an adventure game first and a FPS second, but you still shot from the first person perspective. Bioshock is another great example of FPS done right. I want to check out Dishonored too. Even Halo has its wid...
I predicted a disaster. I am not in the slightest bit interested in the western setting. I'm sorry, but it just doesn't appeal to me. I got the game day one and never played it...
... until a few months ago. I realized I was proven wrong BIG TIME. I should never judge a book by its cover. This game captivated me like no other game this year. It turned an absolute non believer into a huge fan of the game. It even made me buy a Red Dead avatar for my PSN profile just to...
I still enjoy CoD, but Black Ops 2 is probably the end of the road for me. I will continue to buy CoD when it is developed by Treyarch, but there is now way in hell I will continue to buy CoD yearly.
Well, I tend to go off reviews or a brief flick of a meta score if I know little about a game. Sure the actual number doesn't really matter to me, but its more about the range of numbers. I typically go between 80 and 100. The system has never failed me. Sometimes I think some games that score 81 are better than some that score 90+, but that is just the way it is.
I fully trust looking in to multiple review sources before purchasing a game because my tastes seem to fit th...
I am very scared that it will not deliver. I think it will be a good game and probably worth playing, but I doubt it will be amazing. I have nothing to base my opinion off other than my gut feeling and small pieces of footage.
I just don't expect anything brilliant from it.
YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES!
I had no idea they was working on this!
YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES!
I have wanted a reason to actually use my Move. There is no better reason than this game right here!
He is reviewing it as it stands now. He couldn't review the multiplayer based on what it once was because he hasn't experienced the glory days. He made the right decision. To be fair he hardly even touched on the multiplayer in this review.
One of my main gripes is people just pretty much say every site is "crappy". All it takes is one review with a score they don't like and all of a sudden the site is labelled "crappy".
