I've never used the term A, AA, or B game. I've only used AAA and didn't even know those other terms existed.
I'd say it was always popular. Only when COD4 introduced kill streaks was when they struck gold. Mw2 tried to add more kill streaks and perks that ended up breaking the game. They didn't learn a thing after that.
I think that whole sequence was unnecessary. It didn't advance the plot at all and it was a needless addition to the game.

Here's another article about how every other game is a Michael Bay movie, and ARMA is a harder and more strategic game. Seriously, I'm tired of hearing that. The ARMA fans already know what the game is about so can journalists please stick to the GAME and refrain from comparing it to EVERYTHING else? I don't want to have to read through 3-4 paragraphs before they talk about the game itself.

I don't think putting ridiculous hours into a game would warrant quitting your day job. 40+ hours for only a maximum of $200+ (If your really lucky) isn't worth it at all.
the graphics look great, but the game looks boring. Not much going on.
Simply put, look at the games and customers each console attracts.
The marketing scheme is the kicker here: In the Nintendo commercials, there are often families playing in the living room together, or parties where people are playing party games.
Sony has a market scheme where they show the games, not the party living room game, the big action games.
Microsoft shows off the system itself, like bundles or Kinect deals.
