@Coolbeans once again (this is my last bubble)
N4Gs poster of the day, oh you are too kind.
I also agree with your idea of 6/10 but I like thinking of it as 'fun but forgettable'. So it might all work and be quite fun but it isn't anything really special or unique in its category.
Personally I just don't bother really with review scores anymore because there are enough videos and previews on enough sites out there that I've made u...
@Coolbeans - The main reason I think of 8/10 as GOTY worthy is because GOTY doesn't necessarily mean best game ever.
By making 8/10 the standard for very good game like Gears or Uncharted then when they are upstaged by better sequels or future games you still have 9/10 and 10/10 to award the game with.
Currently reviewers just throw 9s and 10s at any alright game therefore devaluing the scores. If you make 9s and 10s rare then you make them meaningful, s...
Thanks for the positive comment.
As regards the overall score (I'm currently writing a blog on the subject) I think of 8/10 as GOTY worthy so the 7/10 that I awarded the game isn't as negative as you/people may originally believe because I think of it as just below GOTY quality.
@BluePumpkin7 by above statement I meant the one about colour being in the game.
I'm confused about the whole female Shepard thing. There has always been a female Shepard in the previous games so why not just use that.
It especially hurts because the female Shepard I voted for never won *Rage*
Who disagrees with the above statement. Seriously?
But game looks sweet though.
Because they made really, really stupid business decisions.
Overall I still feel bad for THQ because it does develop some of my favorite series.
However if Volition, Relic and Vigil Games can be saved then fudge them.
Totally disagree but everyone has an opinion...sadly
I promised myself I wouldn't look at any more spoilers....okay maybe just one more :)
Good article.
However I would point to the recession as the reason why. Think about it. Revenue across the board is going down and so companies are desperately trying to keep profit up. In other industries they lay off staff (and that has also happened in the videogame world) however Online Passes and DLC are the way that Videogame developers can keep profits up.
The idea that suddenly the pre-owned market impacts the industry to a huge degree or that online ...
2 years should be the minimum for sequels.
This may sound weird but you need to get over and forget a game in order to be excited for a sequel. 1 Year isn't enough for a game to fade from memory and so the sequel, no matter how much it adds to the franchise, will still be seen as stale.
Not hating but Call of Duty and Assassins Creed which are both yearly and are slowly losing their appeal but if the games were spaced further apart then they wouldn't...
This is my last bubble, just saying.
My problem with the Drake in 3 is not that he goes after the treasure and the enemies but that he never explains it. He's asked multiple times throughout and just shrugs. If he had gone, 'look, I feel morally obliged to stop them because I may have accidently helped them'. Then It would've been fine because he gave his reasons but no, shrug and away we go.
As for the set pieces maybe for 'The Last of Us...
Although I see where you are coming from with some of your criticisms your just being silly.
'The old hag' and 'lack of boss battles' Christ you must nitpick the games you play to death. What other enemies would you have like to fight as a boss I wonder...oh wait other then that knife fight there weren't any. It made sense storywise to not have any. Old hag wise that's an aesthetic problem for you so that's fine.
Also saying the g...
Good review.
My biggest problem with the game was the story, bare with me.
I just recently finished playing number 1 and it was interesting to see at one point in the game Drake calls it quits because he values his life over some treasure that might or might not exist. Fast forward to number 3 and Drake is constantly being asked if it's all worth it? (Especially when his enemies are clearly not to be messed with). He never gives a proper response. Drake e...
Really? i didn't see any or is this a 'color' 'colour' thing because the guy who wrote it is English?
Just saying
LOl at the bottom the writer says that it's an honorable mention cos he forgot about it.
If that's your reaction to DNF then I would recommend that you get it out of your system quickly because everyone else will have it on their lists lol
But then again, what did we expect?
Yessssssssssssssssssssssssssss ssss love Darksiders
To Crazay and The Matrix - the reason that I don't find the idea of Desmond that interesting is because the Assassins Creed series was always sold and best when you were killing people in ways you hadn't in videogames before. The Crusades and renaissance were brilliant settings for the games. But nowadays just doesn't have that charm about it.
Case in point when at the end of 2 you fight those cops whole all have stun batons (something like that) and it just could...
