Sphinx,
That was hilarious! :)

Mike,
I really don't understand what Microsoft would gain from a prolonged format war...digital distrobution is probably the way of the future no matter what, but it's a long way off. Microsoft has plenty of time to get the groundwork in place before enough people have the bandwidth to download 10 GB HD movies.

I would sooner guess that Microsoft is supporting HD DVD for other reasons...such as:
1. HD DVD is m...

I'm sorry, I must have missed an article or something. Do you have links to the stories about them altering the game to fit on one DVD? What's the Forza thing?

Wasn't the lawsuit for rumble AND force feedback? I personally really like the rumble feature, but if they want to call it a "last-gen" feature and take it out, that's fine. However, force feedback is a HUGE benefit for racing games. Clearly that isn't "last-gen"...so why aren't they giving us that? I think this is a flat out lie about why the controllers don't rumble.

Do you also hate loser Sony fanboys? If not, they you are probably one yourself. Why can't we all just have fun discussing our mutual love of video games?

I personally think this is a pretty funny article, I don't know why it turns into anything more. I can't imagine even the most die-hard 360 fans saying that the PS3 isn't light years beyond the Dreamcast.

You're probably right when you say that the title should include the 360 and Wii as 128 bit also. Howev...

Fight Night and GRAW are already $29.99 at Best Buy...shouldn't these Platnum Hits be a better deal? $19.99 might get me to buy them...

I grew up playing Mortal Kombat where I was rewarded for tearing a guy's head off...yet I haven't gone nuts and killed people.

The responsiblity lies on the parents, not on the government. If they took the time to talk with their children instead of letting video games and TV babysit for them, you wouldn't see these horrible things happen. I guess it's easier for parents to let the government censor everything than it is for them to actually be good parents.

AMEN! :) I can't wait!! The little teaser pics and videos are starting to drive me nuts!!

That being said, I would much rather wait longer for a well developed game than have them rush out a POS.

While I do find it kinda ironic that the company that's trying to push Blu-ray with their system is going to offer downloads, I don't think it's a bad move either. Sony is realizing that downloading is the future, but it's not here yet.

Bandwidth just isn't good enough yet to allow for mass distrobution of movies over the network. Even if you have FIOS in your area, most people don't. Actually, a large number of people don't have the bandwidth to play on Live or PSN...much l...

Are you saying that I'm a geek and a loser because I like the achievements idea on the 360?

I think it adds some replay value to the games...especially now that they have contests where you can win stuff by gaining achievements. I think it's a great idea.

I think you're on to something there. To be honest, my Gold account is a little bit of a waste as I just don't play games online that often. So I would be just fine looking at ads when I do want to play. For the more hardcore gamers, then can pay the $7 / month and get the ad-free version.

My only concern about free online is the lack of responsibility...if people can always sign up for new, free accounts what stops them from acting like asses online? If they get banned, th...

While I'm excited to play this on my 360, I think it's too bad that it will be on the PS2 as well...this will probably lower the quality for the PS3 and 360 fans.

Just look at the next-gen games so far, most of the multiplatform titles just aren't that good because they don't have time to refine it for the individual console. Just look at Resistance, Motostorm, and Gears of War. Clearly the best looking and most refined games on the next gen consoles are exclusives.

What a strange list, B-boy for PS3, but not Lair or Killzone? (I think both of those are 2007 releases, right?)

Guitar Hero for 360, but not Mass Effect or Blue Dragon?

Clearly these people didn't do much research on the subject before writing this article...

"at least it was TRUE"

Truth (noun): a verified or indisputable fact, proposition, principle, or the like

I don't think your post meets the definition of the word truth...unless you can show indisputable evidence that HD DVD will indeed NEVER catch up. Otherwise, this is your OPINION.

I really don't mean to argue with you, I just wish you would keep an open mind. Anything can happen in the future...studio support can change either way. ...

Blu-ray may very well win, but not because of the PS3...it's because of studio support. People will buy the players of the format with the most movies. Most people who buy DVDs don't play them on a PS2...and this generation will be no different.

I don't mean to be rude, but saying that "HD DVD will never catch up PERIOD" is pretty arrogant. There are plenty of very smart people at Universal, Microsoft, and Toshiba that think HD DVD can and will win. I'm not saying...

You're absolutely right...but I didn't mean to use those numbers as an argument for HD DVD winning right now. I only meant to point out to Fx35 that the sites he's showing as evidence of HD DVD being dead already weren't valid. Perhaps I worded that first paragraph poorly.

However, your argument is still based on current sales numbers and I was mostly trying to say that anything can happen in the future. The overall sales numbers for both HD DVD and Blu-ray are way too sma...

You don't think it's a little early to call HD DVD dead? The numbers on DVD Empire that you linked to show that HD DVD won 2006 by a margin of 63% to 37%. We're two months into 2007, and Blu-ray has a lead of 59%-41% so far. Seems like HD still has the upper hand at the moment.

I'll be the first to admit that Blu-ray has a lot of momentum right now, but anything can happen. What if Fox and Disney started producing HD DVDs...I think you would see a drastic swing back to HD. ...

Better DVD drive, possible HDMI output, cooler processor...I want a new 360! Of course, much like my PS2, I'm sure it will break eventually and the new, upgraded 360 will be cheaper than getting mine repaired.

6951d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

The price tag of the PS3 was just the straw that broke the camel's back for me. My main reason for purchasing a 360 was that the PS3 just wasn't available. My PS2 was broken, and all of my friends were getting 360's...I just wanted to play games! At the time, I didn't have an HDTV, so I didn't care that the PS3 was going to play Blu-ray movies. Then, Sony dropped the $600 bombshell and that finally pushed me to buy a 360.

6951d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

You're probably right, Sony's destroying their own image with a lot of the hype they're putting out. I'm sure that's where most of the backlash comes from.

At the same time, without the hype they can't compete with the 360 right now. I'm sure people will label me a fanboy for that comment and take my bubbles away, but I really think it's true. If you just want a great video game system, the 360 has more games, equal graphics, and a lower price tag. Before everyone starts ye...
