which basically needs next gen right? I am guessing that the 512mb ram current gen has is too little to have such complex AI.
As long as they try and market it as something that only next gen could run then I guess so.
I think alot of gamers are hoping for AI to be improved for next gen.

Well, this is a pointless discussion. Look at kojima-san, he basically wanted to end a series years ago and he still stuck on making more games.
Alot of JRPG's will stay on PS3 for a long time. Some of those developers have only got the hang of developing for it recently...
Developing for Next gen is just too expensive especially if its going to be a Japan only game.

Think MGS4 was very disappointing, gameplay wise it was very old school. very linear and too many loading screens.
The engine for that game was just terrible.
I mean I did like MGS4 when it was released, I think I must have completed it around 10-15 times to unlock all emblems.

3rd party support will happen for the wiiU, but they will most likely all be ports from 360/PS3. Not many 3rd party will be bothered to understand the WiiU's architecture completely. PS3 was a big pain in the ass already.
Having backwards compatibility will always be a plus.
If they are doing this gaikai thing for backwards compatibility then I hope that you can play any game yoou own without having to purchase it again.
Well sometimes it is not about being lazy... its more about the talented team or size of the team. Obviously there is also budget that needs to be thought about.
Some teams have 200+ employees, others have like 10. Also the budget my cut into it, publishers give a certain amount of money to pay for certain amount of wages. Once that has been cut off its time to release the game.

tbh I always thought that Live was a sort of DRM in a way.
Wasn't the main reason why most people didn't pirate the 360 because of Xbox Live? i know that modded 360s have their own live kinda service but that isnt the same thing.
like how all consoles games do. Play for a month or two and then online becomes dead.
If this does happen then they need to make it so you buy the game and then have no monthly charges. P2P MMO just doesnt work for consoles.

The IGC of PS+ is just part of it. PS+ discounts is where Sony makes alot more money. Basically gets people to buy crap that they didnt even want...

Problem is no one uses onLive and they kept the watch other people play feature on the onlive servicve only.
The budget for these two games are so different it will be hard to match the sales.
I'm pretty sure the DS team is tiny, had less time to complete and barely any marketing budget. So DS is pretty much a huge success with the sales number which they have hit.
Lets look at it in a companies perspective.
Nintendo, was struggling big time and needed something big to turn the tables. Wii turned into something crazy.
Every unit sold made Nintendo money but if you look at the average console games attach rate then it probably would be lower then Sony and MS.
