These PS3 sales are good news to me. It means we will continue to see plenty of Japanese support. Some of the newer development tools, combined with strong sales, and a possible price drop could be good news for people who care about interesting games. We may see a bunch of great RPG/Other titles emerge.
People are still trying to sensor video games.
I agree mostly and don't forget online DRM and check ins.
However, games like Bloodborne, etc. give me hope. There are also lots of other unique titles in the works and tons of unique independently published titles on the way.
I wonder if your disagrees are from people who like DLC, microtransactions, dumbed down games, hand holding, etc.
If so, there will be plenty of games(or modes) for those types of people too.
I agree The_infected and I'm not even sure I'll be buying one yet(Halo collection looks tempting though!).
Granted fanboys from both sides seem to need something to argue about, so why not argue about which console has the best or most fun games.
Arguing/focusing on technical perfection has done a lot to stifle creativity, while quality devs have shown that there can be a balance between the two. Devs should consider this before they end up like Crytek.
Mantle will have the most benefit on PCs. The new consoles have their own highly optimized, evolving APIs/Dev Kits. Considering AMD's collaboration with Sony(and MS talk of DX) one might assume that some of the Mantle technology will be present in the PS4 kits, but once again, Mantle is mostly to help get the most out of PCs. Some tech will be shared by both console's APIs though of course.
People are talking a lot about DX12(some possibly in response to AMD), which will also ...
Maybe to an extent but his statement can be backed up by facts/history.
They have quite a few unique first/second party titles that aren't even really mainstream. Some make a profit though.
....and for the people picking on "indie" games, most AAA games aren't worth playing anyway, so give it a rest. Indie just means that they don't have/need/want a publisher at the moment. There are big budget indie games too.
Agreed when you got to Warhawk and Syphon Filter :X
I hear ya. I think both 3D and VR can be relevant if done correctly. They have to be streamlined and simple for consumers while being easy and cheap to incorporate by devs. 3DS is not going anywhere for example.
In the past, VR wasn't practical to implement on a mass-market scale in any worthwhile way, but that seems to have changed. Hopefully the high cost of this investment means that they will SUPPORT it and maybe they had plans for the PS Move after all.
Well, with the new SKU, etc. they may still have time, if they choose to actually market the thing properly.
I don't need only "aaa" games and fast sales, but if they want to sell 100m, then they will need to create a buzz, period.
Probably the same way I play "indies" on my PC, but usually with a controller.
Yes and I'd like to remind everyone not to take all the disagrees personally :P
Yes, in fact one of their friendly marketing fellows is rumored to have said that with DX12 and Cloud Powa it will be like be like 3xPS4s!
Just what I need to complete my transformation into a fully android, autonomous, cybernetic unit. Now all I will need is a stylish VR headset and I will be the pinnacle of modern fashion and sophistication. (Terminator voice)
Maybe you can fool their automated support system into giving you a refund.
Lol. That was the only game I beat twice last gen. Excluding fighting games of course. Let us band together in the name of video game purity and vanquish all of this casual nonsense from our kingdom!
I really do hope they make a proper sequel eventually. Boletaria was sooooo awesome.
"man, I want to go back to boletaria...."
haha you beat me to it.
Great minds think alike.
Yes, the bell and the opera singer really put it over the top :X
Probably my favorite game last gen.
Not with their nearly nonexistent support, no returns on broken games, DRM check ins, etc.
For online multiplayer, yes I would agree at this point.
I just started playing through the Thief series and they are better to me so far than 95% of the games I've played from the last 10 years. Grabbed them DRM Free on the GOG sale.
You are so right Sasuke!
