"What is going on?" Seems like they are doing fine to me.
It's not just you. I was happy with what they showed. Now, there are many who are going to hate on MS/Xbox no matter what. I pay them no mind.
The showcase did for me what I expected which was give me a preview of what the console will be capable of, and they have many studios working on games not shown, so I am happy with what I saw. I am now interested with how it handles my back compat games. If some don't like what they saw then the PS5 will also be an option. I have always been a multiconsole gamer so I can't wait.
Makes sense to me, as the Series S replaces the the X1X. MS can't have 5 consoles out on the market when next gen comes around.

I need my OG Xbox, X360, X1, X1X Enhanced games to be playable and continue forward as I am still playing them, so BC, especially the enhanced titles are very important to me.
I say hats off to the Xbox team, and it is the primary reason why I am buying the Series X day one and don't need a PS5 at launch, as I have yet to finish most of the PS4 Pro exclusives this gen, so the Pro is fine for my PS games right now.
