PC/consoles aren't a threat to each other being as they have co existed for ages and will continue to.
The indie studios are bringing different all kinds of unique experiences.huge publishers are just playing it safe by releasing what works for profit.I am real happy that we have these talented smaller studios producing quality software.

Steam offers free game weekends without users paying a dime.There is no way Microsoft could charge for XBL on PC.The Steam daily/seasonal sales are top notch on top of that.
Microsoft knows they can't charge for online on PC being as Steam and others offers everything free of charge
