I'm getting this day 1 on PS3 but, Still on the fence about which version to get....Collector's, Limited or Standard (Heck I can't even get evidence of what the Limited\Standard versions are) and which has Extraction! Does anyone know for sure what versions come with it? Local Gamestop & Other stores are clueless or just not saying (Hoping more people will buy the Collector's) would be my guess. Walmart.com shows the Collector's edition having the full Extraction game and the other version having only the demo (shows a cover pic that states only the demo).
Please GOD let these be ports of the PC or Xbox versions cuz the PS2 Chaos Theory (My personal fav) was just horrid and unrecognizable next to the other versions. I think they were Unreal engine games, they could easily copy & paste the PC code over and plop it on a Blu-ray (Heck that's what most 3rd party devs do theses days).
The genre is dead because theres no way to integrate "screaming obscenities or racial slurs" over a headset. Which devs seem to think every game needs nowadays.... I mean nobody wants to enjoy a game by themselves without being connected to THE NET!?! <<<Sarcasm GRRR!
I wouldn't mind trying this since part 3 is coming out on PS3 too. Yet I still think they could have made more of an effort to release the original. It will suck to have 2 & 3 but not have part 1. Maybe if these two sell well they'll go back and port over the Mass Effect 1.???
When the company that created the genre abandons "Survival Horror" the others tend to follow. I don't think it will ever come back as strong as the PS1-PS2 days. It's sad really because I for one love horror games (Hugs Fatal Frame trilogy). The slow death of Single-Player only gaming plus the industry leaning more towards "50%games+DLC" has me worried if I'll even make the transition to another generation of consoles when the time comes.
I love the original but, they seriously need to bring the graphics up to this gen. Part one looked like a really nice PS2 game at certain points.
SWFU2 nearly kills the series for me. If this is the crap they're gonna churn out then count me out! One stage is literally 20 steps and a video (Dagobah). IMHO it's an insult to gamers everywhere, they give you 40% of a game and charge full price then milk DLC that should have been in the game (sometimes day 1 or announced before the games done). I got it during a buy 2 get 1 sale as my free game and I still feel cheated! GOD HELP anyone who pays $60 for it.

I've been dreaming of the Splinter Cell trilogy coming to Ps3 but, I must say that having owned all three games on Xbox & Ps2 the Playstation versions were poo compared to Xbox versions and neither held a candle to the Pc ones. I don't think any amount of upscaling is gonna help if they use the playstation code. I would much rather them direct port the Pc versions if I had a choice...couldn't be that much trouble??
That comment might have been true during the original Xbox days but, Nowadays the series has kinda lost that spark it once had, maybe due to more effort being put into MP than the SP story. For me at least there will always be fond memories of the first one. I'm still waiting to see if Reach has some of that magic.
P.S. I'm still pretty pissed at that cliffhanger ending in part 2!...That was low Bungie.
I hate to sound like the paranoid old fart thats scared of a world ruled by robot masters but, I'm starting to see where the gaming industry is going and I don't like it! Am I the only feeling more and more restricted nowadays?

I think it's just hopeful dreaming if anyone expects PC\XBOX ports...probably a quick PS2 port with higher resolutions. I mean it would be awesome and nobody would be happier than me but, very unlikely they would that much effort into it. Don't get your hopes up. (PS2 ports = I'm happy), (XBOX ports = I'll eat my words), (PC ports = I'll eat my shoe!) LOL
