The majority of the silent hills have had this. It usually deals with items that are picked up fairly early in the game but not used until late in the game. The one that comes to mind is in the original when you use the hanger and whatnot with the motorcycle. The details escape me but that part of the game was completely optional.
I don't see this being fetch quests and whatnot like that.

This happens all the time. It happened with the ps2, dreamscast, n64. Publishers want their software in the market as soon as possible, especially when they know there will be shortages in hardware.

I wonder what this game will be like, I really liked braid but good lord those puzzles got difficult towards the end. I hope in this game he makes you use your mind in a different manner.
Yea, the N64 was a good system but that was the gen when Nintendo lost dominance within the games industry and it was mainly due to the arrogance of Hiroshi Yamauchi.
