The PC version will definitely have LIVE for Windows. This is required for cross platform play with the 360.
This is a common sense move for Microsoft. Vista is failing as a gaming platform - I only run 2 games under it - and this draws PC gamers that are more into strategy games. It will sell on the 360 though just because it is HALO. I know I will get it. Strategy games though are not system sellers for consoles.

I can't really agree with the stolen thunder bit. I agree with the rest of your remarks but stolen thunder happens when some game shows up and releases prior to another game and one ups that game in gameplay, graphics, or story. That hasn't happened.

Well the PS3 isn't way more expensive. I hate to say this again as it is so frickin obvious, but take the fact the 40GB PS3 price is at $399. Now figure you plan on operating this console a fair amount for at least 3 years. More likely 5 or 6, but to appease the naysayers let's just use 3 years. Now subtract 3 years of LIVE fees at $44 a year (Amazon.com price)
Some people may be able to find some whiz bang deal on LIVE but we are going with the standard price.
MS is in a very tough spot. Their next Xbox will have to have a physical media player in it in order to assure some sort of backwards compatibility. Games will still have to be issued on a physical medium because a vast section of the public isn't ready to buy most of their games and not be able to trade them in. Digital downloads are fine and I have a few. But it isn't a sole solution for most people.
With everything moving toward HD, they cannot rely on download service alone...

Let's see. The PS3 version looks as good as the 360 version despite the 360 being a year older. The PS3 version was held back because of the 360 limitations with DVD9. And, LA Noire and GTA5 - yes PS3 exclusive, are both already in production. Hmmmmm...the winner is easy to predict.
