THe problem with this article is that not all of the graphical features have been implemented in the beta. I believe th elighting and particle effects are maxed at medium for the beta.
"The beta won’t include all the graphics features which will make it in the final version"
Dice has said they want to make a sequel to Mirror's Edge with the frostbite 2 engine. which means it will be fucking awesome. I still play the original from time to time. the free running is just so damn fun
IT seems like some of you don't realize open betas this close to a release isn't without precedent. Red Orchestra 2 was still patching from their open beta right up until release.
We should trust your opinion due to your vast experience in the development cycle of AAA game titles.
I've seen the twitter about Ultra settings, but i have not heard that you will require a 560 or equivalent just to hit medium settings. care to give a source?
The only thing i will have to upgrade is my video card. i doubt the old 8600 gt will cut it.
source?
The sheer amount of entitlement that some gamers have really disappoints me. Dice is giving us an opportunity to play their game before release and give feedback. It IS a privilege to be able to be a part of that. This isn't a demo as some seem to think. No where in that post is it ever implied to be so, but some of you wish to attempt to make that distinction because you think somehow it serves your argument that you "deserve more maps". It doesn't.
Would ...
I don't understand how this is flame bait. he really did just sum up the article.
There is a few things wrong with this story.
1. they make an assumption that "recommended" = medium, yet they point to no specific source to back up that claim. There is also reports of those who have played the alpha and from Dice themselves, that this is probably wrong.
2. his facts don't back up his headline. almost 95% of those surveyed meet the min requirements for gpu, and over 90% have the required minimum dual core processors. In both ca...
yep public beta is also good for balancing and finding any possible remaining bugs. Things that aren't necessarily needed in SP. You may think you found every little bug, that is until your game is being played on 100s of different pc builds only to find your server browser crashes on start (*cough Red orchestra /cough*)
those who pre-ordered on origin are supposed to get early access as well, although i do not know if it will follow the same timeline as the alpha/MOH people. but i'm fine with waiting two days. I would have pre ordered it by now but i need to buy a new video card first. i doubt my 8600gt will be able to cope. it barely runs BC2.
@Ares84HU
DON'T EVEN FUCKING PLAY LIKE THAT
They would probably have to ditch java and use a real coding language.
But you are right about one thing, minecraft itself is not very well optimized
its like people have played the game with different setting and know what and when to max.
I am seriously getting tired of people just guessing and passing it off as fact.
thats still way more expensive than it needs to be. you could build a pc that would run BF3 on high for about 200.00 less.(just switching to an i5 instead of an i7 would save a person an easy 50.00 - 100.00, and all you lose is hyper-threading, which is useless for games) While we don't know fir sure what kind of machine will be needed to get BF3 on high or ultra, basing what we know about the closed alpha and statements made by Dice, the one you linked would probably get high settings (i...
@NathanExplosion
how much was the PC your using to type this message out? 300.00 maybe if its a super budget computer. so for the price of a regular console you've just turned your super budget pc into a machine that is way more powerful than any console. and will run any current gen game on med - high settings.
keep on perpetuating that myth that its more expensive.
PC have been capable of doing more than consoles for years. Its just that we do not see as many games being developed with he PC as the lead platform as we used to since the money has been in consoles. But i think with the gaining popularity of digital distibution (which makes getting your games out to the public a lot cheaper, the fact that you can build a gaming pc that quite a bit more powerful than a console for nearly the same price,and with the consoles really starting to show their ag...
They can still get it 2 days earlier relative to their platform, but they will still wait, which means If they had just submitted it, the best we can hope for is the week of the 26th. lets hope they submitted it to xbox/ps a bit earlier
@Tachyon_Nova
You have to take into account the game quality as well
Since Modern Warfare 1, Activision has released a CoD game yearly with little changes in game play. Mostly just glorified expansion packs. They did the same thing with Tony Hawk, and guitar hero. They milked the IPs for all they were worth, and when the consumer market finally said "we need something new in our favorite IP" They failed hard and the franchise went the the way of t...
They've already fixed a lot of those graphical glitches for the retail release. apparently it was being caused by the destructable terrain. THey are pushing a server patch at somepoint that will turn off destruction on beta to stop the bug.
