There's no source for the quote. I think this story is bunk.

This is going to get worse before the night is out...
I really hope Gears comes out swinging, cause they really gotta back that kinda language up.

My point (and perspective) is that Sony problems are Sony problems and MS problems are MS problems, clearly these issues are far outside normal failure allowances, and bringing up other companies in an effort to shift the argument or forgive the transgressions is a bit of a stretch.

I understand new and old tech, this is different. This isn’t a normal breakdown of new tech; this is something worse than that. When products are put on the market and mass produced, I’d imagine tho...

If the PS2/PS1 problems were so wide spread and so clearly paralleled the current 360 problems, then why couldn't MS recognize them early on to fix them? If MS is capable of making a solid system that is pretty much unbreakable (OG Xbox, sturdy and reliable) then why did they drop the ball this time?

We can aim the hate rays at Sony and try to use their previous stumbles to cover the current MS stumbles, but that isn't solving the problem or discussing the problem in a construct...

Even if MS fixes all 360s and never ships a broken one again, I don't think they'll shake these negative stories this generation. It's been too damn long to still be hearing about broken 360s, but the stories keep coming because the boxes keep breaking. This is just a crazy side story to the whole thing. We never looked at warranty spending before in gaming, but the 360 issues have led us down this road.

It's just a damn shame is all.

Nintendo always will be in the black. They'd have to seriously derail themselves to truly fail. I hope the Wii maintains and finds more success with casuals, in effect, turning them into more consumerist gamers.

Sony should be careful to announce the right stuff at the right time and to actually fully deliver this year. If their proposed slate (apparently viewable in just about every news comments section tonight) actually comes to pass this year, they may well begin to stea...

Hold on a sec, if the 360 sold units last year (which, they did in fact sell units) that means they increased their user count. If the 06 fans liked GeOW, then why wouldn't all of the 06 fans, 07 fans, and 08 fans buy GeOW2 and thus cause GeOW2 to sell better than GeOW?

Lair? Really? I mean, did he even mention Lair?

The recent Yahoo story and sales reports aside, has Microsoft been the bearer of any substantially good news this year? It's only been a month but I really don't remember anything positive from or about MS since CES. Even CES was dominated by the Blu-ray situation.

I know it's only a month and I know this is only an opinion piece, but it strikes me as odd that while Nintendo and Sony have managed to generate positive news stories or have positive news stories written about th...

I agree with your post wholeheartedly, and only wish to add that the media in general seems to be turning towards the PS3 as opposed to fighting it as they did in 07. While (in my opinion) there was a very negative perception of the PS3 through the eyes of many media sources, recent weeks have seen a softening of these voices and some positive PS3 reactions from the media as a whole.

I don't mean to imply a conspiracy or some other evil plot from the media, but simply a moment...

Flip-flopping has such negative connotations. They see the forecasts their analysts are providing and the have (since PS1) seen the power of the Playstation brand, does one expect them to stick to old data even if the market tells them otherwise? There seem to be very few constants in business, and things can apparently change quite rapidly.

Wouldn't an increase in sales translate somewhat into higher attach rates if people are truly buying the console for the games of 08?

I think they all have reasons to question the future.

If UK sales for the 360 stagnate, they're really in trouble and will only have the US to fully support the 360. Having already failed in Japan and fighting a losing battle in the rest of Europe, the 360 looks like it could go either way at this point

Wii is in danger of weakening because people could stop playing it just as quickly as they started. The long term benefits for third party development are in questi...

I agree, I purchased a ps3 at the launch price and have absolutely zero buyers remorse. While a lower price is always nice, it's a steal at $399.

Because before MS entered the console race, no one ever touched a kid. Please. This isn't a PS3 or 360 issue, it's a morality issue.

NM, I was thinking of DVD parental checks. The PS2 definitely had those.. :P

POG, it's a new year, it's time to lay the conspiracy theory to rest. When people agree with positive PS3 news, it's probably because they agree, just like when people agree with positive 360 news.

From someone who didn't bother to beat DMC1 or play 2 or 3, I was able to pickup and play DMC4 and get to the boss within the 10 minute time limit on my first try. My bro go up to the ice part on his first try. I don't even know if you can die in the demo cause it's so easy. It's a great looking (very clean, but isn't the best ever) and great playing game (familiar DMC goodness in every way) that will be a day one purchase for me. :)

PS2's were faulty early on, and eventually got fixed. I think that any PS2 early adopter could tell you that it sucked and Sony deserved any crap they got for it. Just as much as MS deserves the crap we give it now. I see the difference being that for some reason an alarmingly large amount of people have gone through numerous consoles and believe to some extent that it's acceptable.

I stopped after my second one came back from Texas with a broken DVD drive. But perhaps I'm ...
