This is far more different than 3ds vs vita. The wii u has to compete on 2 fronts, with sony and ms. As well as third party developers not fully supporting the system. If feel they will sell their first party titles well enough, but once sony and ms release their systems things will get more difficult for nintendo.
No, you need games for your system. Having games are better than having no games. The Wii U needs games!

Most mobile games seem to be going the free to play route, which in turns makes most of its games pay to win and destroys the overall quality. Dungeon Hunter 4 had so much potential as a mobile game, but gameloft absolutely killed it with its intrusive shop features, need to grind excessively to get anywhere, every ads to buy gear in real world money every loading screen. It was made to be pay to win!
I think the 3ds and vita far outshines the quality and value in mobile gami...
No, kinect isn't a technical marvel. There hasn't been any exceptional games for it. It's there for the casual market. Same way the wii attracted a new core set of gamers. So many potential kinect games that turned out rubbish or mediocre.

Motion gestures in gaming should only be an option. Only a few Wii games managed to do it right, and even then it was not really needed, just a gimmick that has passed by.
