This is great news! I don't usually try free to play games that often as it's usually pay to win in many cases. But I have thoroughly been enjoying warframe, solo and co-op are great fun. Really glad this is coming to the PS4.

Didn't drive away many people because the console started off as gaming as it's core none of those later entertainment features, so gamers invested time and money into the console to play games and pay for the privilege to play online. They are not just going to walk away after such an investment.
With next gen Xbox One is starting with 0. So it's very cocky to for anyone, and especially MS to think the same core fans with buy the console after the dismal Xbox One...

Developers have one revenue stream. The movie industry has at least 4 revenue streams, that's why piracy hasn't killed it. And yes it hurts the gaming industry, if you don't believe that then you obiviously don't have a clue how things work. @nukeitall, that's pretty much a very old view on the Japanese. On the train most japanese I see are either using an American smart phone, iPhone or Korean, Samsung galaxy. It's the older generation that believe in everything being Japanese.
If a product is trendy, they will buy it. The Xbox brand is just not a gaming brand the Japanese take interest with. The main interest now is smartphone gaming, it has taken off dramatically, every week there seems to be a new car...

On a recent TB Content patch he brought up a similar point, and he knows it's an unpopular view with a vocal majority. If you look at other forms of entertainment they have multiple revenue streams where videos games have one. The used market is hurting the developers. As much love as I do have for the FF series I wonder how well FFXIV will be! The series has been lacking recently! Just because it has the FF name on it doesn't mean it's instant success. Square tried that with DQ Online, and it is just not pulling the customers they thought it would. Even bringing it to the WiiU wasn't enough to entice Japanese gamers...and ...
