Makes me wonder how far the gap will widen, and if it will eventually make the rumor about MS selling their gaming division true. Far too soon for this to be happening already, especially when there's so much stock lying around. Time will tell.

Oh I don't doubt it, and I'm well aware of how price factors into the equation, as it's one of the things that damn near crippled Sony last gen, but I think that's only one part of the issue here. Personally, I would've been willing to pay top dollar for machines that are top performing, cutting-edge devices.

Right now, I scoff at the idea of spending my money on sub-par machines that are basically just glorified, modded tablets. Make no mistake about it...

Understood, which I think that this generation, even after waiting 7 years, came too early. Even aside from that, both of the powerhouse consoles have architectures based on tablet PCs? Give me a break. If nothing else, what can't be denied is that Sony and MS both sold themselves short with regard to hardware. With all the talk about all this power they supposedly do (or don't) have, at least the last gen consoles were built with the cutting edge of technology in mind. This time...

Ouch. I'm really interested to see how things develop between these 2 machines as the generation goes by. I'll say one thing - with as much noise as Sony and MS both made about 1080p even last gen, ANY game releasing at anything less than full HD is inexcusable in 2014 and beyond, period. We're on the heels of 4K display technologies from tablets all the way up to televisions and projectors, yet here we are with the second generation of HD consoles barely scraping the bottom of...

Kojima needs to take the glasses off. Not one game this generation has approached anything close to what can be considered photorealistic. With the meager jump in fidelity from last gen, I have a feeling that we're 2-3 generations away from that happening, especially with 4K (and possibly 8K) on the horizon. The increase in resolution alone (and the processing power it will consume) will ensure that progress will again be slowed.

I feel as though I'm the only person that isn't impressed by the visuals in this game.

The ground looks awful; very reminiscent of UE3's signature wet rubber...

Agreed. I couldn't believe it when I finished Act 3. Sneaking around in an alleyway and what seemed like an endless, drawn out cutscene afterward. I remember the criticism being "Movie Gear Solid" prior to release, and I thought to myself that these guys must be crazy; clearly they've never played an MGS game before in their lives. How wrong I was. I think Kojima got a little too grandiose for his own good with 4. Otherwise, the franchise is of impeccable quality.

Been saying this for years, and started to think I was the only one. 4 remains a disappointment for me, and the only step back in the franchise. Snake Eater is the pinnacle of the series.

Oh boy...so this is the sort of rhetoric they feel the need to resort to in order to sell their game? Noted.

I'm not sure what the folks at Microsoft are smoking, but this game doesn't look THAT impressive.

I'd ask you the same. If you care enough to respond, do so constructively.

Killzone. That series lost its way come the second game. Sad, because GG is an immensely talented studio...they just have no idea what direction to take to story of that series in. I can't even begin to imagine the ridiculous premise upon which the next game will be predicated.

Multiplayer is fun, but it needs to be expanded. If they start off with a reboot of the first game, where the characters and story were actually interesting, and actually weave a more carefully...

You can bet your bottom dollar that these two games, and whatever other side titles or expansions may come about, will be released as some sort of "Essential Edition" in a few years time.

This reeks of the sort of thing Capcom would do.

That's not the point. Point is, there is now a tremendous amount of hype for this game, and it's not unlike that of Lair, Too Human, and other bombs. Really, this is all speculation, and none of us can say anything conclusively. Like I said, I'd love to be wrong about this, as I'd rather there be more good games than bad, but that's just my take on the matter.

I doubt it. Games like this that are hyped to the heavens rarely do. Typically, the best games come out of nowhere, OR are from very highly revered, established franchises and creative teams. This game is neither, but I'd love to be proven wrong in this case.

Ouch. And the hits just keep on coming. It's funny, because on paper, these two consoles appear to be closer in power and capabilities than any two machines since the Genesis/SNES days, yet the scuttlebutt constantly stresses that the PS4 is a notch or two above the XB1.

The race just started though, and it remains to be seen. I'm still holding out on purchasing either until there's a compelling reason to do so; most of what I've seen looks like little mo...

SSDs need to be the standard storage devices for the generation after this one...if there is one.

Cute, but not every image macro is a meme. It's time we stopped confusing the two.

The subtitle ends with -craft.

Either way, a pretty ignorant statement to make when they've got multiple Diablo games under their belt. Then there's All stars in development, as well as Project Titan, whatever that ends up being.

That is just hilarious.
