In the article the author states: "Although there are a strong following of hardcore call of duty players, most of the people online are the busy working fathers or people who don’t spend much time playing videogames."

Could the author please provide the results of the demographic study that supports this assertion?

'which is what us PC gamers deserve for our investment.'

In what world do you deserve something from a software developer for money you spent with a hardware manufacturer?

Entitlement Syndrome at its finest.

Did you employ the same rhetoric when Bush was in office?

'Unfortunately, that is not the case as if you read the article then you would realise that the lack of passes/codes also locks you out from single player content.'

Really? Are you talking about the Catwoman DLC? How can it lock you out of something on the disc when it isn't on the disc? Locked content and additional content aren't even close to the same thing. The article clearly references a 200 MB download.

With online passes, publishers are basically telling you that the license to use their online infrastructure is available to one person (usually the original purchaser), through the activation of the pass code, and is not transferable. They're considering the online game more service than product.

The offline is not restricted and is the more 'tangible' part that you 'own' and can sell, more the product part.

Halo what? 3? It's already been established. I think he's referring to the original GeoW and UC. I would say he's correct, if that is truly his meaning.

I would also agree with you, that after the franchise has been established, gameplay is what keeps people coming back. I honestly would have bought the sequels to both franchises if the graphics had remained static, because I enjoyed the gameplay that much.

Hippocrates? The father of western medicine? Did he have something to do with biometrics? Does that mean you have to take his oath to use this controller?

So many unanswered questions.

People also downplay the impact of the year head start. As big a fan I was of Sony's first two consoles, their delay to release caused me to buy a 360 because I was ready to upgrade. Fortunately I can afford both, but what about those who 'Jumped In' because of the delay, but can't afford both?

MS success was undoubtedly linked to their faith and foresight in the boom of console online gaming, which Sony seemed to lack at launch. That, and the earlier relea...

Yeah, all these intermediary steps are an utter waste of time, because everyone knows we went right from the invention of the wheel to space probes.

If these companies don't, who will foster the advancement of technology? Why would someone sink the resources into R&D, and furthermore who would fund it without a foreseeable return?

There is a distinction between speaking for and an action reflecting on a company. There's also a distinction between making a fairly benign 'Well said' and the intentionally inflammatory remark.

Any questionable behavior can be seen as reflecting on an employer and get you terminated, and doesn't have to be directly related to said companies business or product. Charlie Sheen certainly wasn't acting on or speaking on the behalf ...

I've not had the chance to fire the HK416, but knowing H&K's reputation for quality it certainly would not be a surprise.

The beauty of the 556 is the combined reliability of an AK type weapon with the accuracy of an AR. Good to see there are other aficionados of firearms outside the digital realm here.

'It's only good for blinding people in operation metro'

That's actually one of the main uses of a tactical flashlight. The one on my Sig 556 Swat even has a strobe setting to further aid in disorienting the enemy.

You're right about giving your position away. Only use when needed and turn off immediately afterwards.

He's the Senior Director, Corporate Communications & Social Media for SCEA (for those who may not understand the abbreviations), communications being the key word here. It's not like he's a Customer Service rep or loading dock worker.

I believe he may very well speak for the company, just not through his Twitter account.

Well, at least not with his family in it. Unless of course they had something to do with this review.

@ Bull5hifT

That assumes all planned DLC will be completed, tested, etc., at the same time as the game launches.

Don't know how realistic that is.

Edit: Nice stealth edit there, friend.

Some frugally minded people may think that way, folks enthusiastic about the game may love to hear of the continued support.

Sometimes you can have your cake and eat it too. For example, I bought Fallout 3 on release. Then I bought the GOTY Edition for $19.99 new, later down the road. $50.00 worth of DLC for $20.00. Love that cake!

I agree with better spacing, and it would certainly benefit gamers with less available funds, no doubt. As it now stands, a lot of gamers may have to start saving when a game is announced, so they can buy those ten games they want when they get released in the September to December window.

It appears publishers often like to release new IP's in the summer to less competition, then shift to a holiday release if the franchise establishes well.

I disagree. The article is not about BF3 and MW3 eating into each others sales, it's about the two of them combined affecting the sales of other games.

Still, I don't see how that's bad for the industry. They are catering to the tastes of people who want to buy their games. It's not like there's a monopoly or unfair competitive edge issue here.

If one is concerned about these games cannibalizing sales of other games/genres, simply buy t...
