I agree on the whole with those selected, though there are a lot of games on the staff lists I haven't played.
Each gamer will have different things they look for in a game, but it seems to me that the two there are above the others this year.
Next year should be very interesting with games like Mass Effect 2, Splinter Cell: Conviction, Heavy Rain, God of War 3, and Alan Wake...and more!
Yeah it's funny how we forget a lot of the older titles like Resident Evil 5 and Red Faction.
LOL, a PS3 exclusive is way ahead atm on a 360 predominant site. Uncharted 2 seems to have a lot of votes!!!
C'mon Assassin fans! Let's at least give it a run for its money!
Is there a demo for it? If not there should be. I really think for me it's a try before I buy one: I'm suspicious of most game/film tie ins.
Uncharted 2 was a great story with great voice and dialogue but the open-world, variety and freedom of Assassin's Creed 2 gets my vote.
Most over-rated game this year imo is Killzone 2. Boring environment, boring story, nothing like Uncharted 2 or AC2 offered. Second would probably be Halo ODST: even though the co-op was great, the game was a bit meh.
Wow huge selection of games to choose from though in that list!!! DS and PSP even.
After GTA Vice City I got over GTA. Barely played San Andreas.
A Western open-world with random events as described sounds great.
I'm neither a whore nor a hound!
Seriously people who say you haven't got a life because you've got a big score or gamers who say a low score means you aren't a 'real' gamer need to get over themselves.
Some of those arguments in the article ring true though: sometimes going for points makes the game less enjoyable.
YEah well I think he still has his veto power, so the law won't change.
BUT the paper hopefully will show the rest of the public that he isn't supported. That's why we need to download the paper and participate: so he knows he is alone and not representative of the public at all.
Then he may get pressured from other areas.
@XboxOZ
Without a helmet you'd get some bug splatter here in OZ!
Some good tips in there before the review of the new cars. I'd probably never fiddle that much with my tyre pressure etc., but I'm sure the real enthusiasts will find those ideas for racing useful.
Nothing worse than getting to a part of the game (often the end) and have to repeat over and over and over.
The Halo Library example or any of the others that use 'un'fun methods to pad out their games really annoy me. A game should not be 4 hours, but a game should not pad itself out just to say it is longer.
Too right. I like diversity to explore too.
I'm so glad that the gloss hasn't worn off after the initial reviews' dust has settled, unlike with the first.
GOTY? Well only Uncharted 2 imo is the competition.
Yeah I'm not sure about it either but the concept seems cool. But if it is all my boss is bigger than your boss it will just get ridiculous.
It is strange because Aussies generally have such an open non-wowser living style.
Well said.
@ BadCircuit
LOL...horrible when parents knows about games, hey?
The issue is inconsistency: some MA15 games should be R18 (and are overseas as you say) but some of the banned or changed games (Risen? Dark Sector?) are not even as violent or 'mature' as some that get passed.
An R18 rating definitely would get more parents' attention and make it illegal for minors to buy. Sure some will get them still, but they can still get banned ones too from overseas...
I hear that there is a Pirates of the Caribbean prequel open-world game being made already....I don't really think it is the right fit for AC.
I also don't like the Feudal Japan choice some people seem to think is a good fit. Templars in samurai-land. We've enough ninja and samurai games already.
Well there actually was a fair amount, and much of it good, but just not spectacular.
Some of the big titles that everyone raved about (umm Killzone 2, Halo ODST ahem) showed that they were just not really that amazing next to some of the later titles, despite initial reaction.
2010 looks to have some pretty big titles, but will they live up to their billing too?
