I'm hoping for the best, but Hayashi really hasn't proven himself yet.

I'm really looking forward to all the Kinect interfaces to the different applications. Most notably is probably Netflix for me!

Forza Kinect looks pretty darn good, so I'm not sure if that is really true. Kinect does use some of the CPU time of the Xbox 360, but if that is going to be an issue is a wait and see approach.

I would be kind of surprised if it only went for less than the $499 buy it now price.

That is 40+ signatures from the whole Bungie team. How often are you going to get 40+ from a company to sign the ultimate edition of a game. Not often!

So jay2, that is your opinion, but I'm wondering, what kind of games do you play?

What are the games you consider excellent and worthy of purchase in your book?

I personally played through the campaign on Halo: Reach twice! Once on normal and another on legendary solo.

I played through Halo 3 campaign once and was bored.

The multiplayer though, rocks on any Halo! Halo: Reach in my opinion is by far the best Halo released and a great way (if there is one) for Halo to leave the franchise.

No, I believe it sold well because it is almost universally highly rated by most review sites and Halo 3 is still today among the most played games online at Xbox Live after three years. In fact, it is probably the most played games on any console online except for maybe MW2, 3 years after release.

I believe, the most important thing about a game is game play and if you keep going back to a 3-year old game with somewhat outdated graphics 3-years later, I think that qualifies ...

Because it tracks in 3D and does mocap. What other technology out there for $149 does that right now?

Heck, I see an iPad for $499, but there are plenty of other iPads that do the exact same thing (albeit less pleasing), for half the cost. Why aren't anyone complaining about that?

One can argue all day long about the value of Kinect, especially since it hasn't been release, but it is hard to argue with the fact that nobody right now has something like...

I'm building a big collection in the past 3-4 years and I wonder if it will end up like this guy. Moving was a pain, and now I'm considering lowering my purchases and go with a service like GameFly.

With that said, I'm afraid I'm quickly going down the path of a video game hoarder.

Never heard of this, but the disc is pretty warm sometimes when it comes out of the machine. That alone is probably far worse than just leaving your disc inside the machine.

In fact, I would argue leaving the disc inside the machine is safer than taking it in and out of the case risking cracking and just general damage from being exposed.

I call this BS!

Here is a quick search on IGN and I found a video of what seems to be average gamer talking about Kinect (and PS Move) and how they liked it:

http://www.ign.com/videos/2...

Notice that even Jessica Chobot added if the person found it "boring" and many other negative words. Usually, you only ask if they liked it instead of p...

I was also disappointed in Sigma 2. The only thing even remotely worth it for me was the co-op mode, but had very bad net code so it is laggy as hell.

Everything else was just minor, instead he removed blood & projectiles, changed the timing of the game, dynamic of the enemies and introduced a freaken cannon.

The extra characters was freaken boring to play and this comes from a huge Ninja Gaiden fan, which is by the way my favorite game series of all time...

Seems to be it around here, but if you look elsewhere the general public seems genuinely excited about Kinect. The hardcore gamers also resisted the Wii, so it is no suprise there.

Exactly!

Including a large capacity disc format like HD-DVD would have raised the price on the Xbox 360 significantly. The Blu-Ray drive alone in the PS3 was reported to cost $100+ to manufacture.

Fancy a $500 Xbox 360 at launch?

I think in retrospect, there was no way in hell Toshiba and HD-DVD was going to win the format war. Simply because, Sony had more money and bought their victory. Perhaps, because there was too much at stake for Sony ...

That was a fantastic interview by Peter, but yeah, the Eurogamer guy was an ass!

No, it just means they already are developing a button based games and don't have resources to focus on anything else right now.

I don't expect a lot of indies to jump on this bandwagon, considering the market is unknown, the development resources are unknown and the results are also unknown. Heck, the hardware isn't even out yet for indies.

So, I don't exactly expect to much from a group of people that technically can't take much financia...

"It may look a bit better but it doesn't take away from the fact that you are fairly restricted in the types of games you can play. Not just because you have no buttons but because Kinect uses the xbox CPU"

That is such a ridiculous statement. If you told me it was limited because it lacked button, I might be inclined to agree.

However, the use of Xbox CPU means that you can reduce lag by throwing more processing power at the problem. If you ar...

The issue isn't the individual going for it, the issue is that it ruins team play and creates individual gamers that focus on their needs ruining the intended game play.

That is why I love MW2, they didn't have a single multiplayer achievement only co-op and campaign. Even Bungie screwed that up!

MS makes most of their own apps for Xbox Live.

Somewhat detailed information on how MS tunes Netflix to adapt to streaming and etc can be found at the Xbox Engineering Blog.
