Really?
Because if Kinect/XBL is successful, it means MS will continue to support it. A product/service is only valuable to a company if it can find a way to monetize it!
Like it or not, that is the hard truth of capitalism. Would you like to work for free? If not, then why do you complain about others making money?
If you had an issue with the ads being in your face and you don't like that, then I can at least understand that.
It's business, get over it!
Fact is, there are plenty of things in life that are paid for that still comes with advertisement. Why do you pay for newspapers? What about magazines? TV service?
ah... that wasn't clear from the article at all. In fact it suggested otherwise.
Good catch and thanks for the correction!
I think the combination of ban plus a costly subscription that can net you a ban means there are few and far between cheaters. I personally haven't met any cheaters other than lag switchers once.
This happen on all platforms, PC included.
MS has a team that enforces Xbox Live Policies and frequently ban people for cheating and having naughty gamertags!
Although I use PSN, I have never heard of any banning or policy enforcing. Have anyone? Do PSN have something similar to Xbox Live Policy Enforcement?
The DLC is not included on the GOTY edition of Uncharted 2.
"…the version of Uncharted 2 on the disc is the same as the original retail version — none of the DLC or Title Updates are included on the disc — as I’d mentioned before, we looked into including this type of stuff on the disc and it wasn’t possible to pull off."
A little laggy, but much more responsive than I thought it would be with Kinect.
I compare that to PS Move and I noticed similar lag in Ruse so I don't think lag will ever be eliminated if PS Move is the perfect Wii style motion controller.
Yup, then you look at the video and you realize this guy is most likely lying or had some technical difficulties.
From the article:
"I couldn't get the game to let me aim outside of a 1/4 screen-sized boundary in the middle of the screen."
You can clearly see the guy in the above video using Kinect in a larger than 1/4 screen starting at 00:21. Check it out for yourself!
Makes you wonder, how much truth and how ...
It is a optional step to ensure Kinect doesn't have to work as hard to track you.
It is not a requirement like a lot of people would like others to believe. If you actually watch the video, that is what it is presented as an no means a requirement.
A huge lawsuit would ensue if MS doesn't list their requirements clearly on the box!
If you actually read the source, the information is really presented differently. This computerandvideogames.com is really re-hasing it in an almost inflamatory way to get hits. Here is the actual quote by Phil Spencer:
"You forecast, you hope, you do your best, right? You ship something. I know my manager, Don Mattrick, was quoted saying a holiday target of over 3 million. I think about it in a bigger way than that. Not that Don's wrong; that's the number that h...
"'People should be told not to play it when there are dogs in the room. I blame the game for what happened to Megan. If they hadn’t been playing it I don’t think the dog would have gone for her.'"
Are people freaken serious? The dog shouldn't be attacking people just because it hears another dog! That is some serious aggression.
I blame it on the dog owners and the dog!!!

Need I say more?
It's either because people are a fanboy or just dense.
It's like calling a cube a square!
Did you look at the amazon.com (US) pre-orders? Now Game (UK) is reporting they are selling out.
Some guy THINKS it isn't selling out, versus companies telling you it is selling briskly. Who to believe? Especially coming from you!
Not biased at all...
Bug still happened back in the day. It's just the software logic was simpler, although the technology much more rudimentary and harder to debug.
The sort of bug you see here is a logic error. Nothing is really changed, except games are now much bigger with much larger teams working on it. It's a fact that you can't get bug free software ever including the stuff that NASA does.
In the olden days, when a bug actually did happen... you were SOL!
Guess Nintendo still lives in the olden days! Ironic since they are the most innovative company this generation when it comes to re-inventing the console.
I agree. That is why I like MS approach of one or two large updates a year. Lots of new features every single time.
On the PS3, I have to wait when I want to play sometimes and what do I get a Photo application or something minor. You made me wait 10-15 minutes for a stupid application I don't care about. Most of the time I can't even tell what the new feature is.
Good approaches are:
1. Flash what the new changes are on the screen wh...
Unfortunately it is not a good idea to overwrite files in use, that is why they don't allow you to use the XMB. However, Sony makes the whole process worse by giving you the illusion it is almost done only to have it restart and installed.
Sony in general makes very clunky interfaces and supports their product somewhat shoddy. Just take a quick look at their phones (Xperia X10 still running Android 1.6, wtf?) and laptops and you get the idea.
The only ex...
That is until your disc drive wears out on your console and it cost you a $150 to fix it or buy a new PS3 for $300. I would rather have installs and that is why PC is superior in that aspect.
Heck with a platform like Steam, I can download my games on ANY computer!
I completely disagree. One can say developing on the PS3 (for lack of better word) different, but reality is that Sony chose the path of highly specialized design that aren't too friendly with conventional programming models.
The tools might be super efficient and fast, but the tools aren't easy to use or accomplish the task it kind of prevents everyone, but the one that has the most resources to dedicate to the project.
As a programmer, I can tell y...
