so you're saying, ps3 games are usually scrutinized heavily compared to others? i do tend to see reviews upping the critical ante when it comes to ps3 games, like you said expectations must be high.

cmbre is one of the few people on here with any integrity, so maybe he will elaborate a little.
without the whole review i dont see how any real conclusions can be made of this, other than they had problem with AI and atmosphere. maybe cmbre is referring to those generic we dont like the atmosphere things that reviews sometimes revert to when they've ran out of ideas.

yeah, i dont think they should join forces, competition just makes it better for us gamers altogther.
although if sony made the hardware and Microsoft made the online software, we'd have a very nice console on our hands
killzone 2 was used as an example, as everyone and their grandma is claiming this one to be goty already. both games will be great, brilliant in fact. but this whole goty thing is abit silly imo. especially in January.
kind of like square loosing that Japanese feel in their games as of late. in order to appeal to a broader market those traits that made the franchise loved have to go. in a sense they become shadows of what they once were... well thats what i think anyway.
yeah, its just not as tense anymore. the fact that they arnt zombies, and there's a mob of them just takes away that dramatic suspense that the previous games had, if you throw enemies at someone left right and center in a survival horror, they just get desensitized and so the build up to a fight is just well... non existent its just a slaughter.
(although i will say i sh!t my pants a little when the chainsaw guy stopped to chop my head off, i kept panicking hehe) but i shouldnt...
abit early for GOTY claims. i wouldn't even claim killzone 2 GOTY yet because theres so much coming out this year and my tastes vary. although killzone 2 is the game i' most excited for.
Resident Evil is kind of like a love hate thing for me, i love the franchise and the story but as the series has progressed i've seen them move away from the tense horror survival feel it had (gameplay wise), in the same way silent hill has gone abit action horror too.
the demo, IMO ...
both games have very different expectations based on the previous games, the buzz around killzone 2 is for very different reasons. so that comparison doesn't really fit.
although i am excited for both games, but i'll wait abit longer for RE5. killzone 2 will get my money first.

why would this publication be on metacritic then? if its credible enough to be ranked into meta score its good enough for my eyes.
if you don't like these reviews why the hell are you hear complaining, do you think anyone actually cares about what you think.
the emphasis of a review is never and should never be the score, its the comments and impressions given, from the context of the writing.
nowadays people hardly even read the review they just look at the score and take it for granted.
i myself will read a review and base my own initial expectations off of that expressed by the reviewer in his impressions.

i wouldn't say revolutionary rather, pure quality. it sounds like KZ2 is doing everything expected and better. but i wouldnt go as far as saying its revolutionary.

anyway the importance of a review isn't the score, its the comments made and impressions given, it sounds like they enjoyed it and if their observations reign true, we'll all love it too.

come on, i'm a bit of a sony head, but KZ 2 wont outsell halo 3. the franchise just isn't established in the casual market as the halo brand, thats what gets sales. oh and marketing of course.
