Switch isn't a console though. Everyone knows that because whenever someone points out that a 9th generation console cannot run a game made for 8th generation consoles some fanboy always comes along and says that Switch is a handheld hybrid and cannot be judged the same. Yet when this handheld hybrid outsells a console in a country that prefers handhelds then it is necessary to view them equally. Even then, it is still overall Nintendo's worst selling handheld. GBA sold 80 million in 3 years which is insane. I don't think any console - home or portable - will ever come close to that level of success.

You are including the March 2018 numbers with this financial year when it actually goes with the previous financial year. Nintendo foretasted that they would sell 20 million Switchs this financial year and so far they have only sold 5.07.

None of those exclusives helped sell the Wii U. The PS4 has even passed 3DS sales even though the 3DS has been on the market almost 3 years longer.

I think a lot of people are wary of shopping from questionable online retailers that they have never heard of. There is a good deal and then there is a red flag and the fact that Rakuten was selling Switches for $180 and didn't sell out shows that customers didn't trust that deal. Nintendo themselves cut off Amazon France for selling the Switch for 10% less than MSRP and here we have Rakuten selling it for $180 while everyone else was selling it for $300 - that seems fishy.
