Actually going through some of the tweets, Sessler says it affects a handful of journalists that review stuff in a certain way, which suggests video capture issues, but then Marcus Beer came out with this:

"Let me clarify 1 thing, it's not about "video capture issues", it's about evaluating things in staged environments.
Don't trust staged shit."

Mountain out of a molehill if that is the case. I personally don't car...

xHeavYx - Yeah, I thought the exact same thing, which is why journalists are having issues and nobody else really cares. It's probably going to be something like the firmware isn't ready for direct capture yet.

wtf activation? Maybe they just ejected the disc so the error popped up or something, but even so, the wording suggests some sort of DRM.

@minimur - LOL, you can choose to share real names with whoever you want to or don't want. They said that months ago, pretty much when they announced the console.

On topic - Glad to see they got this featurre ready, because it is probably the best thing about the next gen consoles. I hate not being able to switch off a game because I haven't got to a save point. One of the reasons why I love the Vita and PSPgo.

All they are doing is allowing extra frames to be shown at times when the action is less, and scaling it back when it gets hectic. That way they will always have it above 30fps, and can provide more than 30fps as a bonus in certain situations. It's kinda like Wipeout HD, which did a similar thing, and that never stuttered.

Just watched it, most of these reasons are really stupid, for example 5 is they'll not support the Vita. It doesn't even matter if the Vita stops being supported, because you are using a PS4. The Vita remote play is an extra feature that helps the Vita mainly and much less so the PS4.

Also, number 1 is really stupid. XBLG already charges for online and you happily pay for it for nothing in return., but when Sony charges for it and gives you hundreds of dollars of free...

I'm 90% sure this is a teaser for some sort of VGA announcement, for a game coming in November 2014, most likely Uncharted PS4.

@quanji - Interesting, maybe there's some sort of licensing issue for the codecs that need to be installed, so they need to be able to prove exactly how many people are using BD/DVD playback. You had to do a similar thing for VC-1 support (wmv) on PS3.

What do you mean barely supported? PSP had some fantastic games, and Vita has had some great first party games already, Uncharted, Killzone Mercenary, Gravity Rush, and A LOT more.

Still no CPU speed confirmation :(

Shit almost just got real.

Even if you don't have internet, this patch will eventually be bundled on a game disc. At least it has been like that on PSP and PS3.

I'm a little disappointed that the suspend/resume mode is not there from the start.

Never actually says native or not, so you don't really know. I'm fine with 720p standard at the very least tbh. Any lower and that is quite a disappointment, but it's early days and there will be some issues on both consoles.

@Enemy - He is a massive Xbox fanboy, he's on full damage control mode at the moment. Just ignore him.

@Killrate - Well it only has a HDMI out port, I'm sure that there is a converter out there somewhere and someone could probably get PS4 working on a crappy old TV set. Unlikely that anyone will actually do it, but it's probably possible.

I have high hopes for this, Ready at Dawn have made really great GOW games for PSP, this should be good.

It's to do with the architecture, and they are almost identical in that sense, the only real difference is the RAM and the way you manage the data transfer on that. In terms of specs overall, PS4 is clearly significantly more powerful in every aspect, anyone that argues against that is a fanboy, plain and simple. It's not the same as PS3 vs 360, 360 had certain advantages in key areas, plus PS3 was notoriously difficult to code for. This time PS4 is more powerful in every technical sp...

This isn't that big of an issue for most people, because you won't notice the difference on a TV unless it is over 42 inch.

Much sooner than I expected, and actually a good announcement after a tease. Thought it might be the release date.

4632d ago 6 agree0 disagreeView comment

The main reason was probably cost. It would have made the controller cost more to make, and in turn cost a lot more to buy, pushing the price of the console up. It would also have had a devastating effect on the battery life.

I think possibly release date, but could also be some kind of beta.

@H0RSE - well Sony's developers have proven they are some of the best coders on the planet. Look at Naughty Dog, GG, Santa Monica, Polyphony etc. They made amazing games on the "puzzle" of PS3, I can't imagine what they can do with the simpler PS4 architecture
