The Last of Us is popular because it treats gamers like adults and not dudebros like every other game. Uncharted is clearly aimed at the teenager-age group+, but TLOU was clearly aimed much further above that.
It's multiple times better than FF13 probably
They would have to pay EA at least double if not triple whatever they paid for the exclusivity for the first one, and at that point, they might as well invest in a games studio and make actual exclusive games.
Quite a lot of people on Neogaf are surprised at the big drop in sales, but it's to be expected. There is no compelling Japanese software. The only hope was Deep Down, and that was delayed, and even then it probably wouldn't have been THAT popular with Dark Souls 2 out.
Wii U has been out for much longer and has a decent back log of games for Japanese gamers so it's bound to sell more for the moment. By next holiday, I don't think that will be the case though....
Right at the end
"Disclaimer: Now we’re not saying these sequels were bad games in and of themselves (well maybe in the case of the Tony Hawk series), but that their predecessors had something that the sequels lacked."
@zombie - It was incredibly convoluted, 10 people could share one game apparently, but Major Nelson said it wasn't the full game, it was more of a trial for a bit. There was also something about not being able to play it if someone out of the ten was playing the game etc. It was too ridiculous to get working really.
MS was completely wrong about the way they went about with digital. If they said, games would be $40, then people would have taken notice, but there idea was ...
Peggle Halo
£7.92 is a very reasonable price.
:)
@Sardo - Your numbers seem off...
So many comments on this one....unsurprisingly!
If they manage to lock down complete exclusivity, then that's great for them, but if that happens, I highly doubt it will be Xbox One exclusivity, it will be "Microsoft" exclusivity. But I honestly think it is going to be a Timed DLC exclusivity like COD.
Xbone wouldn't have been accepted by a lot of people if MS didn't try the DRM thing. Now it will stick for the whole gen.
You don't really see many artbook reviews.
I'm actually surprised, he must have been offered a lot more money elsewhere.
I think it will sell a lot, but mostly on 360 and less so on Xbox One. 2.5 seems like a low estimate imo, I'd guess 4-5, considering it is on 3 platforms.
So glad it's next gen only.
I wouldn't say desperate, I'd say they are just reacting to the current business climate. Although they should have known in the first place that they couldn't sell at that price.
@Neon - They bought back their phone share from Erikssen so they had more control over the design and release of their phones, and since the split, they have been doing very very well in the phone area.
Too much IMO. It needs to be no more than $199 because you will have to also buy PSEye and possibly a move controller too.
