Yeah, I thought the last line about "as of now, gamers should stick with what they already have..." was hilarious. You mean as of now, before any games or specs of the system have been announced? Or how about now, six months before the system is even being released? I'm surprised the author didn't suggest waiting for the next Sony or Microsoft systems, two consoles that we know even staggeringly less about.
Also, the article doesn't really address its own titled ...

I guess I thought Nintendo was implying a NSMB-type game as the new 2d 3ds game, but if this name ends u being correct, perhaps it'll actually be an old school, sprite-based title. Interesting.

I don't think RE6 won't EVER make an appearance. Give it a year and we'll end up with RE6 Touch, or something, since the system is reportedly so easy to port to.
As far as 3rd party support, I think Nintendo will have more this gen than they have ever had before, since they worked so closely with developers to give them features that they wanted. Although, the games will have to sell for 3rd parties to keep making them. As always happens, first party Nintendo games sell th...

We'll see how many developers stick with the Wiimote... Devs know that hardcore players don't want it, and will probably skip it. Nintendo will probably support it for awhile, but I'd be moving onto using the tablet controller, if I were making games.

They are announcing the games at E3... You really think Ninja Gaiden 3 is the only game coming for the system? They are purposely keeping details of the system under wraps to create more of an impact.

Yeah, $300-350 seems reasonable if the system isn't a huge tech leap ahead of what's out, now. Since no one has seen what it can do, maybe it will be better than the naysayers are predicting. If it ends up being a surprise powerhouse, I think Nintendo will be able to set a higher price. I think they will definitely keep the 3ds' pricing misstep in mind to make sure that they don't have to slash the price a few months into release...

I had read from the same re...

Apparently you didn't read the article, because Xenoblade IS on the list at the end of the honorable mentions (because it doesn't showcase the motion controls...), and Last Story is not out in the US yet, so...
Pretty good article. I hate when people complain about the lack of good Wii games; there is a ton of great stuff for the system even if you don't count first party stuff. I'll admit that the fighting and racing genres are quite barren on the system, but there...

I don't think nintendo wants only casual gamers to play games, but I can't blame them for going after the money of such a huge group of people, especially since Sony and MS had locked in the hardcore crowd for themselves... I think the new tablet controller will bring some really cool game concepts as well as some inevitable bad ones, but the potential is what is exciting. Ghost Recon Online seems to be skewing hardcore in the correct way, by using the touchscreen to mimic a real worl...

I'm not surprised that this article's author seems ignorant of nintendo's recently released financial info, and the fact that they have so much money that they could continue to bleed cash like they did in 2011 for another 20 years with no real repercussions. And that's before selling of any of its IPs. So regardless of what the WiiU does, sales-wise, nintendo isn't going anywhere.

And that's not even mentioning that still no one has seen the games or ...

First, Sony and MS aren't just coming out with new consoles for the heck of it. In fact, they've made no announcements about new systems at all beyond denying that they'll be revealed at the upcoming E3. Coming down on them for things that people have simply made up is ridiculous. Now, do I think that both companies have new systems and games in the works? Sure. Some alleged specs have slipped out, but they haven't officially announced any features to either lament or celebrat...

Oh, and have you seen the weird teasers for the Sega/Capcom/Namco - Bandai game collaboration for the 3ds? The game announcement is coming this week, I think... They've said that there is no way to guess what it will be, but it seems to have something to do with DNA strands in petri dishes (not necessarily directly, but that's what the teasers are... Maybe mixing the characters from different companies together? Street Fighter X Tekken X Virtua Fighter? Should be weird, whatever it is...

I've got to give Nintendo some love after the recent bashings to point out that Retro Studios (makers of the Metroid Prime series and Donkey Kong Country Returns) have been hiring on a new project, although whether it is for the WiiU or 3DS remains to be seen... They've said it is something fans have been asking for, and rumors are for everything from more Metroid to a new F-Zero or Star Fox title, all the way to them making a new Zelda game...
Another thing from Nintendo is S...

Good read. It's nice to see someone say, "Hey, we don't know anything, but here is what people are talking about." The name change bit is interesting, too.

Yeah, Nintendo strives to push the boundaries of gaming every generation. Why should they stop innovating when other companies refuse to? This article is obviously biased against Nintendo without any evidence. No one has seen any games yet, and you still try to claim the controller is a gimmick? Just let Nintendo do what they want, and if you don't want to buy the system, then don't worry about it.

Yeah, you shouldn't just move development from one system to another because it's a little late... There are circumstances where it takes so long that the system becomes obsolete, like with Twilight Princess moving to the Wii, but the 3DS is new, and very differently powered than the WiiU. And the 3ds doesn't "need" an action adventure game, now, because it has Mario and Zelda? I would say that any new, good game is a welcome addition to any system library. And we have b...

I agree that various generations of dev kits out there are probably leading different developers to have differing opinions of the specs. I've seen reported that the more "important" companies get the nicer kits first, so it makes sense that companies with higher profile releases would be getting their best stuff, while smaller "anonymous" devs would be stuck with earlier kits. And of course, Nintendo is going to want to have the nicest looking games at launch, so they...

The article makes some broad statements which I could see bits and pieces of becoming real. I don't feel like core gamers, of which there are a lot, are abandoning consoles; I do think large numbers of traditionally non-gamers are flocking to casual gaming devices like phones and tablets and the Wii, which makes it seem as though console gamers are dying off. Icons totally see consoles transforming into broader functioning boxes for streaming games and media. Sony is in a good position to...

Well, this is good news, if real. Good racing games were a clear weak point on the Wii and GC. It's bad when you only have a kart racer, but no Burnout or something more technical, like Forza. This next E3 should have a lot of interesting announcements.

What a weird article... Most of those things are minor story points in games - hardly the worst decisions Nintendo has ever made. What about purposely making the N64 difficult to program for, mistakenly thinking that only the best developers would make games for it? Or releasing a shoddy version of the Virtual Boy to free up developers to work on the 64, basically ensuring its failure? And the Gameboy Micro, a totally unnecessary and too tiny version of a dying system. And pretty much giving ...
