I do wonder if this 3ds game and the very similar one Nintendo announced for WiiU will be overkill, but the other titles don't seem like too much; they're totally different genres and gameplay. I'll skip Mario Party and Kart, but the other ones seem fun. And the "new" titles at fairly different from the 3d iterations (such as Galaxy...). Adding to that the fact that Nintendo plans to have these games around for years... You don't have to play them all at once, becaus...

I bet we'll see something from them, even if not as a launch title. I'd love to finally see some fighting games on a Nintendo console, again. 3ds has gotten a lot, and Tekken in some form is supposedly on the way for WiiU. I'd dig aLollipop Chainsaw port, too.

Interesting points are raised by the article, but I don't think that much thought is given to the other sides of those stories. If Double Fine, as an example, makes a bad game due to not having to make their money back, fans won't be as quick to contribute the next time, if at all. Everybody has bought a bad game before, and you learn your lesson and stay away from that company or series of products. Some of these Kickstarter games may end up being no so great, and backers will not be...

Just because a game gets revealed early doesn't mean we won't get to see dazzling new trailers at E3. We know about Halo4, but I'm guessing we'll get to see a lot more if it. Practically no games have been announced for WiiU, let alone SEEN. We're going to get lots of first party announcements, on that front, and probably some more 3rd party stuff. Epic has yet to show those new Unreal Engine 4 demos to the public, and they are supposed to be mindblowing. E3 is also about ...

I couldn't find a date listed for when this article was written, but it's already old news... The WiiU Mario game (or one of them, anyway...) has been confirmed to be in the "New" series of titles, based off of the New Super Mario Bris Mii that Nintendo showed last year at E3. While the Super Mario Bros 4 domain hasn't been confirmed as an actual project, we also know that a new 2d Mario is coming to the 3ds. That could be 4, or something else altogether. We'll see. ...

Interesting article. I like the bold predictions that other similar such articles have been unwilling to make. The screen size change is an interesting one... I do think the controller will see a lot of small refinements, like the circle pads and triggers, but I don't know about the screen, obviously. This was fairly conservative in terms of game announcements. Pikmin 3 has been in devfor so long that I could see it for launch. New Super Mario Bros Mii, as well, since they obviously had a...

While I think devs weren't too excited with Wiiware's size limit, and not getting paid until after 6000 copies is unfortunate, I doubt it is Nintendo's fault that the game didn't sell. While I did read about MDK2 in Nintendo Power, I haven't seen it talked up anywhere else, and it got a so-so review, if memory serves (because of uneven gameplay...). It's also a port of an old PS1/Dreamcast game that I'm not sure was an explosive hit to begin with... Beyond hearing ...

This is dumb. This game is no more raping our childhood than the new cartoon of Thundercats, which I would say is not at all. The game is obviously intended for young fans of the show. Doesn't ruin the old cartoon for me. What's the problem? Do 30-somethings really want a Thundercats game? That's literally never occurred to me as something I want. It's a kids game, and they'll either like it or not.

I doubt any retailer knows the launch date, beyond creating a mock window of release for themselves to plan around based on current speculation. Nintendo is probably still deciding, and I don't think they'd give out the info yet to avoid things like this happening. The guesses probably aren't too far off, but they're still just guesses.

I think that the "casual" and "hardcore" terms are quickly losing meaning, because I agree that when millions of gamers are playing Call of Duty or Skyrim, it sort of loses some of that "hardcore" luster, and when a different group of millions pours hundreds of hours into Facebook games, then that isn't really casual, anymore. But the meanings aren't supposed to be literal; we've come to classify the games in our lives more for the purpose of understa...

First, the system was never announced for a March release and then postponed. No information regarding price or release date has been given, so saying that it has is at best misinformation, and at worst an outright lie...
Second, who cares what it's called? The WiiU name is fine, really. As the article says, any new name takes some time to get comfortable with, and we've had the time. If you still are nitpicking the name, then you obviously are biased against the system to beg...

I'm sure there will be all sorts of control options, especially given the glut of special edition controllers released for certain games on the wii. Aside from the fact that the tablet controller seems fine for SSB and the WiiU will almost certainly support more than one tablet (but maybe only two...), the classic controllers will definitely work, too. And yeah, we're not going to get a glimpse of this game at the next E3, so what difference does it make. And that's making no men...

First, game reviews are generally geared towards READERS OF GAME REVIEWS! While admittedly a generalization, that tends not to include casual gamers. Do my 5 and 3 year old niece and nephew care about online game reviews? No, they just like flailing around I front of the tv, having fun. I, on the other hand, do care about reviews... With a grain of salt. I read reviews to get a sense of what players think of the game, but ultimately use that information in conjunction with my own tastes and j...

But that's not any different than what's happening with Mass Effect 3, right now. People can always complain about things. I agree that Miyamoto doesn't have tow worry about funding. It seems as though Nintendo let's him do what he likes as long as he helps out with all the other games, too. I think with crowdfunding, being brave doesn't really factor into it; in fact the opposite is true. Using sites like Kickstarter, you know that fans are interested in the game up front...

Where were the predictions? Pikmin is definitely coming to the WiiU, as Miyamoto has already stated that they had moved development over from the Wii. As for Dragon Age 3 and Dead Space 3, I guess those are predictions... I haven't seen either as rumors, so it does seem to be a guess pulled from thin air. The app store thing is a pretty common rumor, so also not really a prediction...

Yeah, I'll be 30 next month, and I still like keeping up with games news, but I really don't have time to play all those titles. I'll start a new game, get busy with other stuff, and then forget what was even happening with the story or what I'm supposed to be doing. That's okay. I played more games as a kid and teen, but a lot of it was probably crap. Now I can skip the garbage and concentrate on the best stuff.

Durango is the name of the little cowboy that rides around inside the system putting out all the fires.
Anyway, I doubt any of this is true; my sources have indicated that the WiiU will be running at twice that power with a full 16 bits, and that they've made a deal with Sega for their Blast Processing technology. The games will all be cartridge-based, and Sony's PS4 is finally going to be the cd add-on that they've been making for Nintendo since the '90s. It's a p...

The article seems to miss the point of those other games entirely; what makes crossovers exciting is putting together properties from different (rival) companies... That's why Mario and Sonic at the Olympics is so popular.
For instance, mixing Metroid and Halo could be interesting, but I'd want something truly amazing, like Metroidvania! A Castlevania/Metroid hybrid whose franchises created an entire gaming genre, flung together in 2d glory. Samus would get sucked into a wormh...

This is a really in-depth article examining all the WiiU rumors and what could realistically come of them. I particularly enjoyed the speculation on upcoming games. Nice to see a piece where the author has actually done some homework and isn't just making things up as he goes along (aside from the bits of harmless speculation such as Nintendo will start making toys again, etc.). Good read.

I hope this becomes a reality. Nintendo has been having a weak time with great "realistic" racers... Mario Kart and Excitebots don't exactly scratch that itch for me...
