After reading the source. I fail to see where MaxConsole derived the 10 number from as the original post makes no mention of the number of consoles they've opened, where they purchased the console, when they purchased the console or anything, other than:
We opened up a 'brand new' xbox console today to find a Hitachi 47 DVD drive, and a white SAV sticker.
So where are the numbers spoken of in Maxconsole? 'neuf' in the text actually refers to 'new' not 9. I guess ...
If true, and I don't put this past MS. Money is all any company truly cares about.
Why not Rip the guts out of an old refurb unit, and shell out the $0.50 for a new enclosure. Then no one would be the wiser, and the whole process could be automated.
If your intent is to mislead, and ripoff then you go all the way. The reports I read on that site, claim crayon, blood, and sticker residue on the consoles from months ago at that... I thought this was a new bundle. J...
SONY had a monopoly on Madden... and all EA sports ONLINE.
http://xbox.ign.com/article...
As you can see EA did not have any of their games on Xbox Live until 2004. That amounts to 4 years of exclusive online play for Sony.
Sony has historically followed a 6 year cycle. PS1 1994, PS2 2000, PS3 2006.
It will be interesting to see, how much they slow down after launching a system who's limits are unknown though. They could just shrink the console in 2 years at $199 and milk it for the 10 years they announced in 2006, not releasing a new console until 2014 or 2015.
Atari, NES, SNES, N64, GC, Master System, Genesis, Saturn, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, PS3, Xbox, X360. The norm is 5 years, its been this way for over 2 decades now.
Why would it change?
Did I miss a 360 update that nerfed the universal Mute option from the dashboard?
If not then I guess its PS3 specific. Hopefully they will be able to patch this feature into Home.
Out of curiousity how many here are currently employed and working in game development? This game pushes more textures, that game has better shadows, the details, draw distance, AI, etc. etc. etc.
Way to suck the fun out of the experience people.
The bain of the gaming industry is the lot of armchair analysts that fill every blog, and every news item with "expert" opinion.
I came to see the video I saw it, and now I'm trying to find exci...
However to say that sales for both HD platforms have flattened is a stretch.
We can all see that PS3 sales are trending up by an average of more than 100% since the 40GB sku, no reason for a price drop.
MS is due for a price drop, we all know that, but they can still afford to hold off until PS3 sales begin to consistently surpass the 360 like they have in the UK.
For Microsoft #1 is to turn a profit, #2 is to gain market share. Winning is a pipe d...
2008/2007
Nintendo Wii 721K +178%

Sony PlayStation Portable 297K +65%
Nintendo DS 698K +37%

If that's a Plateau what does a peak look like?
Source?
Looks like Photoshop to me... but I may be wrong.
From what I gather a few Sony Exclusives have benefitted from dedicated servers, while the majority of third parties use P2P. Is this inaccurate?
IW, and Criterion have both said as much, and unless a publisher can afford to run their own dedicated servers that does seem to be the best way to go.
Please correct me if I'm wrong but GTAIV has P2P on both platforms.
Also, Microsoft does allow developers to use their own dedicated servers. Saying other...
Its a better experience for some, a worst for others. I prefer the level playing field of Halo. COD is lots of fun, but I resent the level up when I don't get it.
However I own all those games, and a dozen more, two dozen if we count Arcade titles. Gamepro is out to lunch IMO. Was this list put to a vote? How did they compile this mess?
I can see reviewers leaving the hyped AAA titles off the list just to be different, but Pac Man, Geometry Wars? I spent all of 2 hours playing both games combined and I've owned Geometry Wars since launch. They're good enough to make the top 10? I spent more time with Catan and enjoyed it more.. hey what...
Uncharted is all over G4, and Spike TV, has been for well over a month. I've also seen the Uncharted commercials on all the network stations.
Then again, our cable providers are in a perpetual state of monopoly, and they in large part control the commercial programming.
This may explain why Sony is doing so much better in Canada then the States. Virtual deadheat in November.
Am I the only one who's lost as to where they're coming from?
They're not from this article. This article is little more than a wordy interpretation of the NPD. Minus Wii, and 360.
You mean the country with the most arcane videogame restrictions? Ya lets use them as a benchmark..
Don't get me wrong the German people are incredibly tech savvy, and drive hardware forward, but the enforcement of videogame censorship in that country, is unsurpassed.
The numbers would be much higher.
If I were Sony, I'd get Drake's sister as the main character for Uncharted.
Great reviews and junk sales... at least when compared to Assassin's Creed which had poor Reviews.
If anything this does show PS3 has a large share of the casual market.
Edit:
Sony first party games up the creek?
Uncharted - 127k, R&C - 70k - That's just piss poor marketing. Those are both incredible games, an...
Price parity with the 360, and Sony at least keeps pace in America. The sales reflect that. Almost every month. 3/4 priced 360 sells 33% more units.
The only question is when can Sony afford to price match M$ console.
Nintendo DS -- 918K
PS2 -- 664K
GBA -- 641K
Xbox 360 -- 511K
Wii -- 476K
PS3 -- 197K

Yup I speak french, so from the article they opened '1' new = ('neuf' in french which bablefish translates to 9) console, and from that it appears they've made the claim that all the new units are in fact refurbs.
Well I need a bit more proof before I joing the witch hunt.
