There is a big difference between 720p on a game with standard definition textures and a game with high definition textures. You would think all the time you've been on N4G that you would know that.
Any game on a non-HD platform was built using standard definition level textures. Forza 3 is not only using HD level textures but 4x the texture resolution size in Forza 2 not to mention 10x the polygon count. The higher the resolution the easier it is to see details which is a go...
Simulation isn't about how the game looks but how it plays and guess what Forza is told to be the defining console simulator when it comes to gameplay by every hands-on so far.

You know ever Xbox 360 game upscales to 1080p if the TV supports the resolution.
GT PSP might compare to Forza 1 and that is a maybe but isn't even close to Forza 2 let alone Forza 3. It doesn't have HD graphics, on par physics engine with even Forza 2 or even close to the poly count per car on Forza 3(2,500,000) let alone Forza 2.
It is a hell of a lot easier to make a game look better by lowering the resolution then by raising the resolution. Its like comparing GT PSP vs GT5 only a fanboy would do it.
The most advanced console Physics Engine and Most advanced console AI means nothing I guess? This game is far from an Arcade racer and deserves more respect then being called because if I remember correctly it has been scoring on par or better in reviews with the perfectionist GT for a few iterations now.
But why? So all those PS3 owners that don't own Xbox 360's won't buy Forza 3? They have no direct competition on their platform so they should take as long as they want to finish.
But if you try to make everything perfect you will never release..... I am buying GT5 but it will have no affect on whether or not I buy Forza 3. Mainly because different consoles and different year release dates.
I have no idea why they are beating their chest at Polyphony other then Microsoft wanting Turn 10. Turn 10 have already said before that they are huge Gran Turismo fans and weren't out to take on GT but to add to the experience.
