You are joking right? Honestly, you couldn't be that dumb.
You think a company like Square Enix wouldn't have all that figured out before creating the game? Why would they rely on how a different company half way around the world optimizes a game on a completely different engine, created for a completely different genre?
I'd take Square Enix over Epic any day of the year in nearly all fields of game development, especially optimization. "Gears of War" for example relied heavily on very tight areas to take advantage of the use...
I don't have a DS, but I want Contra 4.
It wouldn't make my top ten though.
Yeah the 33% does seem a little odd. I think it was the same percentage reported from retailers on the RROD failure rate. Coincidence?
P.S. Not trying to start a "flame war".
A friend brought Halo 3 in to work today, and the helmet was bigger than I thought it would be.
Looking at this game early on I was almost sure that I could pass on it, but lately it has proven itself to be worth the money. The same thing happened with Folklore.
FF13 will give it a run for it's money. Gran Turismo has sold more copies than both as well. Then you have the technological marvel of Killzone 2.
How about the extremely fun Little Big Planet?
I'm glad 360 isn't showing up in 2008. It would be embarrassing for Microsoft.
This game is an example of emotion and story telling that is absent in the West.
The 360 cannot do this game, but somehow you imagine the Wii can? Get your head out of your ass.
"It is a great game, but the extra storage doesn't make for 270% more game."
Not unless you think it is going to make the length of the game last longer, and if you do, than you have a lot to learn about the process of making a video game. It makes for 270% more "CONTENT". In other words you get higher quality sound, more assets, etc. Considering how developers have so much more space to play with they haven't had to resort to compressing every little piece ...
Disc size goes to show how much content, and effort you are getting for your money. A full blu-ray disc will give you 270% more content than a DVD9. It goes to show that you are getting more for your money.
How do you think compression works? When you compress you remove certain bits of information that is spaced out in a way that the human mind can for the most part ignore, or form the full picture on it's own. In other words when you compress you are killing the detail of your product. What is the point of having an HD TV? Not having to compress means you can put out a product that can live up to the name of HD. You can have quality and quantity, when it would not be possible other wise.
I guess when they went so far as to put the words "For PS3 Only" on both their FF13 and FF13 versus trailers, they are going to look foolish in the future when they reveal they were kidding.
Can't you people take a hint? These PS3 exclusive games are going to be released on the PS3 only. When they are released most Final Fantasy fans will more than likely buy them. Their other two top selling games are from different genres, and will attract different consumers. Metal...
Square is known for their RPG games. I'm not sure I'd bother with any release of theirs that wasn't an RPG. It's obvious where their minds and money are.
Compare the halo3/xbox "crowd" to that of the playstation.
View attached image.
Where does Metal Gear Solid 4 fit into that?
Final Fantasy reinvents itself with every release. They do not go the safe route. Milking is more justifiable in a company like EA or a game like Mario where the same game is released year after year.
No one said it had a bigger crowd than the fan favourites over there. It is only worth mentioning that Halo 3 had such a larger crowd than expected when you consider how poorly the 360 is selling over there.
Why can't people get over Lair? Anyone who wasn't bias could tell that game was over hyped. It's a shame that people continue to package it in with great games like Heavenly Sword to try to prove their ridiculous views. Lair flopped because people set their expectations too high, stop trying to believe it somehow worsened the games surrounding it.
Now that is what I call putting someone in their place.
