Like most people I haven't bought a physical PC game for many many years. But that's because the prices for digital games on PC are very good. Digital games on consoles currently cost far too much, most often more than the physical copy. So until they get in line with PC prices for digital games, then no thanks, I'll keep buying discs for my consoles.
It's not just the gaming community though, this sort of thing happens in all areas of the internet.
My other hobby is mountain biking and some of the comment threads on some mtb sites are plenty worse than gaming sites.

I get paid £8 an hour and work far too much doing a crap job. Try it out for yourself, just play too many video games and fall asleep at school, worked for me.
It'll probably do just fine, I've seen the TV commercial, the casuals are gonna lap it right up. Kids too. It's clearly not aimed at hard-core gamers.
I actually like Infinite Warfare, it's a good game.
I downloaded COD4 remaster and had a great nostalgia trip for about half an hour before realising that it was showing its age badly. Turned it off so as not to ruin my memory of it and have never went back.
Seriously it just feels old and plays old.
I have it on PC and it is buggier than frog shit. I loved JC2, one of my fave games ever, so I was massively disappointed with JC3's dismal performance.

Personally haven't paid much attention to reviews for a few years now after it became apparent to me that my tastes and most reviewers tastes were quite different. I found myself buying games with excellent reviews only to find I didn't really like them, and vice versa.
Only if a game is getting unanimously panned by reviewers will I pay much attention to reviews. Mostly I'll make up my mind myself by watching gameplay vids.
