Looks like the slow boat from China just docked...
A.K.A. Microsoft Game Studios.
And no, it does *not* need to go on PS3 to sell well.
As pointed out, Blue Dragon (same developer, same publisher) sold just fine on 360 alone.
As is, Lost Odyssey should do better than Blue Dragon because the 360 installed base has doubled since BD was first released, and because, in the words of the developer (more or less) "Blue Dragon was our traditional japanese-market JRPG, Lost Odyssey will be our western RPG."

That money is coming from 3 million XBOX360s in three months, times 7 games per console, times $20-some per game. Give or take a few million bucks paid in advertising and developing the next wave of 360 games. ;-)
(Or something like that.)
Basically MS sold a lot of 360s and an even bigger quantity of games. And since the whole idea is to make money off the games... Well, MS made money. A honking lot of money. And judging by the january sales reports, they're sti...
Just becausae *you* do your job raising your kids right and policing what they see or play, doesn't mean the neighbors do. And kids lend each other games all the time so hardware-based parental controls are a good idea.
The problem the article alludes to is that many parents are lazy to start with and hardly bother with *easy* parental controls. Quirky and odd ones they just give up on. And then they go squawking about the games to FOX and other idiot media venues.
Good parental...
The PS2 was already out when the original XBOX brought parental controls to console hardware.
Nintendo used to simply not allow mature games on their consoles (in the US, anyway) but with Gamecube they dropped that policy.
Sony never did anything until PS3.
:-(
Those nice folks don't understand that Amazon review forums are moderated. And policed. Unlike certain forums that are free-for-alls open to corporate shills.
Today all the negative posts have been removed and the book is back to 7 reviews and 5 stars.

All they're doing is annoying the Amazon mods.
If they want to get back at her they should go to her personal blog or just simply edit her Wikipedia entry since that has no credibilit...
Please consider that those hypothetical 10,000 PS3 sales don't come for free. It costs money to port a game.
The short answer is that the *upfront* cost of developing/porting a game and how *fast* it sells matters *more* than how many total lifetime copies it might sell. Remember the Konami comment about MGS4 needing a million day-one sales? Remember all the effort MS made to stoke the Halo and Mass Effect fires? The public beta's on Halo and COD4? All the Assassin's Creed inter...
1- Sega let SONY FUD software developers into *not* supporting the Dreamcast. Remember, EA did *nothing* on DC. And they *told* everybody they were doing nothing.
2- Sega ran out of money to keep DC on the market long enough for developers to change their minds. An extra six months woulda done the trick.
This time around, nobody is going to argue MS does't have the money to stay in the game, expecially since they are now making a profit off 360, and this time around the ...
<<Liara, like BioWare, promised me a “life-altering experience”: I sure didn’t get that.>>
1- Where did they ever say that?
2- Even if they had: he believed it?
3- Its a video game, dude! A great, genre-changing, seriously fun game, but still nothing more than a game.
You'd have to be in serious need of a life (which the guy doesn't appear to be) to think a game can change your life.
Jeeze, some folks take this stuff waaaa...
1 - If you are releasing a new RPG any time next year, you *have* to factor in the way MASS EFFECT has raised the bar in many areas. Your product *will* be compared to theirs so it is only logical to familiarize yourself with it and try to learn from what the got right and what you may think they got wrong, if any. Not sure how much time Berhesday has left to fine-tune FALLOUT, but the may have time to make a few adjustments to make sure they compare reasonably well. Would be great if they co...
CNET is a rabidly anti-MS site.
Given a choice between reporting on Bill Gates winning a Nobel Peace Prize for his Philantropy and reporting on a mis-spelled word in a Windows help file, they'll report the latter and not the former.
For them to say something even vaguely complementary of any MS product gags them; to have to admit it has superior features and is the console to beat probably choked them and they no doubt had to wash their mouth out with soap afterwards. :-)
Is that Sim Exchange is only working the demand side of the equation. Not supply.
I suspect the Nintendo side of the analysis doesn't factor in Nintendo's allocation priorities: Japan first, europe second, NorthAm third. They are purposefully keeping the US starved of Wiis to maintain the mystique and free-advertising of media hype while harvesting as much as possible of the non-HDTV markets in Japan and europe where lack of HD isn't as important.
Very smart, really. Especially ...
1- You log into the 360 forum
2- You scan the headlines
3- if any posts reflect well on the 360 you go in and disagree with everything positive in them.
Hint: count the "disagree";'s; its always the same amount across the board.
Most likely its the same IDs disagreeing with everything, possibly all belonging to the same kid. :-)

As the review points out, you can be a goody-goody or a total jerk.
You can refuse to help people in distress or even sow discord among your crew for the hell of it. You can try to sweet-talk NPCs or intimidate them.
You can be a multicultural Paragon or a xenophobic alien-hating racist Renegade.
And (if your character is male) you get to make out with a female human or an alien that looks female. If your character is female you can try to establish a romance with a male ...
...well over a year after release...
No wonder everybody wants in on Arcade; a good game can be made cheaply and sell well practically forever.
Is that a lot of current 360 owners never had the original XBOX so the best XBOX games and franchises are new to them. This is a way to bring those games to their attention and they are as a rule *very* good games. The cost of doing this is very low so if they sell even a few thousand copies its worth it; it found money for MS.
And anything that generates extra 360 reveue means quicker hardware price cuts, even for those that choose not to buy the originals...
Everybody wins.
...or at least pay attention to the source: they're talking about shortages in the UK, not worldwide and definitely not in the US.
Its just another reflection of euro gamers getting the short end of the stick yet again.
1- All three manufacturers have limits on production of some kind or another.
2- Sony and Nintendo are in a dogfight over Japan and neither can afford to fall short there.
3- MS is strongest in the US and they're not about to let that contro...
Warping time and space for fun and profit can be very rewarding.
Like taking down a Colossus with a handgun.
Fifth playthrough so far and still learning new techniques and experiencing new dialogue. Your choices make a really big impact in what you experience.
Anybody who hasn't played this is missing out on a classic.
Expect a whole new wave of Mass Effect clones from second tier developers.
