Overrated doesn't begin to describe this game. How much is Bethesda paying these "reviewers"?
"I think you're thinking that being not stereotypical means being like everyone else. Perhaps you think being black is stereotypical? I'm not sure."
So what does "being black" mean in this context? It means "not stereotypical" and also "not like everyone else" according to you, so what ground is left? Define your parameters, because it seems to me like you're talking in circles.
His "disagreement" is with the distinction and not the point, or so it seems to me.
And it is at odds to say "we want less stereotypical characters" when you're also saying that "redefining blackness" basically boils down to making black characters less stereotypical. You're essentially saying "we want more black characters that don't exhibit how black characters are normally portrayed".
That's tot...
"If you haven't walked in someone else shoes then your opinion is void."
You haven't walked in my shoes, so I'm disregarding your opinion of my opinion. Na na na na boo boo.
Game ratings from media outlets are completely meaningless. People here live and die by them for whatever reason (brand loyalty being one), but the amount of games getting above 8s in the past few years that are really 5s and 6s is just criminal.
To answer your first question I think the commenter meant that the distinction of "black" is meaningless since good characters in gaming as a whole are rare.
For your second point, I guess I don't get why you're seemingly at odds with what the other commenter said since your own definition of "redefining black" as the article states seems to be playing characters that are less "stereotypically black".
It looks to me ...
"Folks not agreeing" are just as entitled to their own opinions whether they've "walked in his shoes" or not, and to skip ahead a bit the game and performers shouldn't be immune from criticism under the guise of race. I think that's the aspect a lot of people here are disagreeing with as it's pretty obvious that's where we're heading.
Dude... bait doesn't even feel this bait-ey.
I thought the game was written by a teenager. It has nothing at all to do with skin color... it's just bad.
Black was such a good shooter! Criminally underrated.
I literally turned off the dialogue volume within five minutes of starting the game. It's insufferable from every angle.
Whomever wrote the dialogue for Deathloop should probably change their high school career trajectory from writer to maybe... I dunno... something that doesn't involve writing. Marine biologist, perhaps?
It encapsulates the delusion of the crazy Xbox fans at the time. There was literally nothing the 360 could do wrong in their eyes even if they were standing in the ruins of their burned-down apartment. I never understood it. Like, you paid for this thing, it broke, they're making you send it to them, you get it back and it breaks again... and you're DEFENDING the company? What?!?!
I honestly haven't downloaded it yet but I need to. Thanks for the reminder!
The problem with these "X is Dark Souls but Y" games is that none of them have the polish that Dark Souls has. None of them feel as good as Dark Souls feels to play. It's sad. TBH Salt and Sanctuary is the only "Soulslike" I've ever played that I'd say feels as good as Dark Souls, control-wise, and like 2 people made that whole game.
Not sure what it is about Square-Enix games but the movement and character controls are just so hollow and unsatisfying. It's like they get the engine to the point that the character moves, they add no more polish and never work on the "feel", then just go "yep, let's work on the story now".
For the life of me I don't remember blaming anybody in my comment. I think you're jumping the gun a little with your defensiveness.
Well... that sucks. I guess it's not a huge difference between versions but still. If you're going to incude a game, why the hell not add the upgrade for those with PS5s?
Given? For the life of me I thought I paid for PS Plus.
You'll have to tell us how to get it for free.
Rift Apart was mediocre beyond words. Entirely forgettable. Basically the opposite of OoT.
