You are right, there was more emotion and story behind the Virgil fight, but when you meet Mundus and then see his true form and how the fight takes place over several locations and with 2 different gameplay styles, that style has never been redone in any DMC game. It may have had better graphics, but the levels were boring compared to DMC1 and 3 IMO. Also, no DMC has matched the awesomeness of DMC1 Mundus fight. It was literally out of this world!
DMC 1 and 3 were what the franchise is all about. Playing through the HD collection brought back many good memories!
I think it's had more marketing than DMC4. Most sites I go on have DmC being advertised. The Internet is full of DmC ads. I can't recall a TV commercial for either game, but I don't remember DMC4 getting this much paid advertising exposure on the Internet.

The 184k plus sales for DMC4 were for Europe not UK, but even then, a third of that us not a great deal.
How are the original fans butt hurt if the game has only sold a little more than a third of what DMC4 sold when entering the charts?
Everyone knows the budget for this title was higher due to expensive motion capture techniques not previously used in DMC games as well as hiring Hollywood studios for the game and then adding the marketing costs on top of that as well as costs for damage control after Tameem set the internets on fire with his comments.

Dude, you never played a light gun game in the arcades or grown up playing Tine Crisis, Virtua Cop, Jurassic Park shooter, House of the Dead, Point Blank and the others? These games are awesome with the move and gun combo. It's when the move works like magic. A DS3 would be lame for games like these.

Well it may be about money as Nintendo could have paid for Exclusitivity, timed or otherwise. We know the big N is trying to get 3rd parties back on board after the Wii.
Ninty could even have paid in part or full for the games to be ported onto their consoles. I suppose we will never know.
I'm just glad we are getting a true successor to MH in the form of Soul Sacrifice. It's a shame for those who don't have a Vita, but you WiiU gamers will be blessed with the true DMC successor known as Bayonetta.
If Capcom continue like this, newer studios formed by the talent which built Capcom last gen will eventually take Capcom out with better games.
