When you like a game, and it doesn't sell well. The chances of the developers making another game like that are very slim. You want to be in the know about sales figures and such because it gives you an edge as to how the market is doing and how your favorite game fares. It's stockholder thinking, I know, but those are the traits of a hardcore gamer.
I personally never look at NPD threads or VGChartz, but I do respect the fact that video games are a business and developers are in...
What're you talking about? My first paragraph was a summary of what the author said. Granted, it's my interpretation of it, but still. -If you wanna hate, hate the author, I'm just restating what he said.
But my 2nd paragraph is my own statement about the situation. Sony has got to check developers on their products. Sony should drop the hammer on any developer whose' load times exceed 3 seconds.
Author has a good point. 360 20GB owners have not had a problem with space ever since 2005, yet PS3 owners are pressed for a bigger HDD because of useless mandatory installs. And the continuing growing trend of HDD installs only spells doom for Sony's 10 year cycle.
Microsoft forced developers to think on their feet because of the Arcade model. Sony should be whipping and brutally beating developers until they turn up a worthy product for PS3.
I talked about this in the 360-Install article, but I'll copy and paste it here as well.
"Up to this date, I haven't seen many PS3 games that require mandatory HDD Installs actually benefit by having less load times. Even MGS4 crumbles under the weight of load times, especially install times.
Sony has got to release some tools to make load times less. Take a ****ing page from the devs at Naughty Dog FFS! Just for my personal protest, I never buy "new" ...
I actually laughed pretty good at that one. Bubbles for you sir, we all would like that wouldn't we?
Instead of waiting 3 min to install a demo, I can spend 3 minutes scratching my ass.
That is all.
You've read correct, you can download any PSN game that you own as many times as you want. However the people on other PS3s can only download your game once. I don't think changing the HDD will add to your "PSN total count" because last time I checked, the PSN game is tied to your account and PS3 MAC address when you activate it. Changing the HDD doesn't change your MAC address.
Can someone confirm this?
Multiple endings FTW!
Don't be stupid, PCs have been requiring installs since the inception of PC gaming. I don't argue with history.
If the 360 all had HDDs, you wouldn't see as many mandatory HDD installs because the 360 DVD Drive is significantly faster than the PS3 BR Drive. You can use facts all you want, but the games itself speak louder than anything you'll find on Wikipedia. Just look at every single multiplatform game and then look at how many times the PS3 version requires an HDD Install wit...
If Crysis is anything to go by. This PC will crumble under the might of "Very High" settings. I don't expect Warhead to fare any better.
I can build a better Crysis "High" setting PC less for what they want.
ZOTAC 8800GT - $120 (because the 9800GT is just a rebrand)
http://www.newegg.com/Produ...
AMD Phenom X4 9550 Agena - $140
...
reminds me of the Gamer Zone.
Developers use mandatory installs to meet the bare-minimum of loading times. I hardly see anything worthwhile in mandatory installs other than the obvious fact I have 5 less GBs. Like I said earlier, if you don't approve of lazy devs wasting GBs away on your PS3, don't buy your games new, buy them used. Nothing says FU more than lack of profits.
PS3 games need to be more like Uncharted, virtually ZERO loading screens and seamless transitions, all without eating up pointless GBs. ...
I'd like it if Sony stealth-released a 4X BR-Drive in the new batch of PS3s.
You've become "accustomed" - I play my 360 3 feet away too and I can hear the thing VERY CLEARLY. I have to turn up my volume just to drown the sound out.
IF you guys never played the first two. PLAY IT. Hell even Samurai Western has its moments. For one thing, you can wear your hat "anywhere".
I mean "anywhere" (like on your crotch)
.....There's always "that guy" that proves you wrong
I thought they were called "wiggas"
The MGS4 "Bargain bins"
I wouldn't mind fighting against triangles. All 100,000 of them.
In order to win back the japanese market, Japanese developers needs to focus on MOAR bishoujo games!!
PS3 Tentacle Girl ACTION ACTION ACTION!!!
