You got it, It's not that big a deal to many of us, the ones who like to concentrate on what they're doing in a game.
The feature WILL be wanted as more 360 owners buy PS3s though. It's gonna suck hearing them complain all day about it.

A PS3 at $299 next to a 360 at $299 makes the 360 look VERY unappealing.

Anyone else notice the also lack of ventilation holes in comparison to the original? In addition to less power consumption it apparently also produces a lot less heat.
@above, there is no "power brick" period. Sony the "hardware company" remember? They're good at stuff like this.

All the positive comments on this site would indicate that it will have a great positive impact for sony but at the same time I do see one negative:
1. There are many claiming they will buy a second PS3 now, this will SURELY lower the PS3s game ...
I really wish this newer PS3 could have a faster read BD-drive
I couldn't care less about the other OS but a 4x drive would mean a lot to me, at least they cut the power consumption down yet again, that's always great.
Do faster Bd-Drives even exist on the market yet or are they all still maxed out a 2x speed? Loading speed isn't really an issue but it would be a very nice addition.

Use the PS3s backup utility and an external HDD or a large memory device if you can. You choose which things you're backing up.
The power consumption has my interest as I already own a PS3 but this make me consider trading it in. Though my 80Gb MotorStorm bundle PS3 has more features so it's a hard call to make. I might just get a second one LOL

Well the slim coming is nice in a similar way to the DS Lite. The PS3 is pretty big and heavy so it makes sense that this would happen so soon in the consoles life cycle. It's not the PSThree so it's not "too early" for THIS particular revision.
I don't give care that much for the cross-game chat. I would definitely use it if it were available but it's not killing me when messaging is an option.

What would REALLY be interesting is if the PS3 and PSP got a firmware update that allowed the psp to remote play ANY PS3 game. THAT would be awesome. And if the feature was only available through the PspGo! that would be a system seller.
