It's user interface would look cool if it were made up of a 3D world of box icons like that TGS display screen shows. Before I expanded the image I thought it was an upgraded version of the user interface because of all the green. Unfortunately it wasn't but it would be a great idea if someone could suggest it.
Kind of like the current 360 interface where the avatar is chilling except the those boxes making up the X1 apps/feature would be on a 3D plane.
I don't think they lied, I think the systems power just didn't live up to their assumptions/expectations. They hadn't put the real hardware through its paces yet and their engine is based off of the PS4s hardware so something technical must've fell short. It's also possible that the situation with needing better driver support that was mentioned recently in those "X1 vs PS4 power comparison" articles may have hampered their goal.

As far as profits go the PS+ decree on online multiplayer should help them big time.

That first trailer had character models and environments with polygon counts in the millions. As in 2 million or more each, obviously this doesn't have its visual fidelity but it still looks great.

I just don't get fanboys, be a gamer first. Denial makes no sense when we're all able to see the same images.
I prefer playing with friends but it would be nice if it has an offline option as well. I think it's online simply because it's meant to have updates to the quest and world on a consistent basis or something. Like they'll be continuously adding more challenges over time.

It was never CGI, it was running on target hardware based on the PS4s power, aka a PC.
It was not some video (CGI = video) and this was proven by the imperfections that were visible back then. That video was thoroughly inspected right after it came out. CGI doesn't have jaggies, clipping of textures etc. The imperfections proved it wasn't a video.
It definitely wasn't CGI.
Most likely just higher polygon models, probably a couple ...
You guys can debate the low res picture quality and even the textures but the fire is undeniable. The dragon also looks good even in the pre-tgs game play.
Just one more day to see more in depth information and hopefully direct feed game play in HD.

On topic: anyone in the video game industry should have respect for Sony among others, anyone that doesn't probably shouldn't be in the industry. Many of these companies pioneered aspects of what we see in games today, MS included.
He's smarter than Penello and Greenberg, at least smart enough to only talk about the things he's knows about and to only make opinion-based statements rather than claiming opinions as facts.
Still not a fan of the guy though, his composure just seems too arrogant. Feigning confidence or something, he might be an okay guy but... he's a book with a bad cover in my court of law.
There are some fair points in the review but I think it's 5/10 rating is far too harsh. He blames the PS3 but really a lot of his issues sound more like they're net related. It's an online game and he was waiting for things to load pretty often. Some PS3 related as it can only have so many characters on screen in a single area at one time but I think others would probably be fixed after the server upgrade that literally just happened.
