Kind of bad news for the people in japan that couldn't get their pre-order in on time. They'll have to wait, deal with the launch day in store rush or pay more from buying from someone that just bought it early to resell. It's great that it sold so fast but the quantity allotted wasn't enough to meet demand and people will be out of luck because of it.

Tv market?
You know, 3D headsets like Oculus Rift and even 3 dimensional holograms are a way to keep the tv/video market going, even after the eventual "higher than 4K video" making higher resolutions pointless for the human eye to see. Something new will come along.
Having movies recorded from all possible angles and being able to walk around holograms or watching them with a 3D headset that allows to to walk around the characters and environments...

I see tons of new features that aren't on current gen hardware, some not even possible.
For 1 we got the new controllers that are both upgrades from current gen.
PS4 has suspended gameplay allowing you to relaunch into games instantly, exactly where you last left off with no splash screens whatsoever.
Faster interface
Please note the recent downgrades associated with X1 titles now that they're running on actual X1s. Also note that none of the PS4 games have suffered downgrades in resolution, frame rate or any quality related aspects. PS4 games have devs constantly trying to improve their titles before launch.
I can't wait to see the demo units in stores like gamestop, bestbuy, target and walmart where regular customers can finally play around on them an test them out. Expect lines...

Funny, I have no interest in Mario Kart or Smash Bros. Liked both on gamecube but lost interest since then. Super Mario actually looks fun though, the stage setups, playing with friends in a Mario Party sort of way and the new power-ups.
I'd also buy the Wii-U for a new Zelda, Metroid, Monster Hunter (that's actually new), Pokemon RPG, even a Donkey Kong game. They've got a lot of IPs at their disposal but focus everything on their handheld instead. -_-

It would take a pretty long time to "pay itself off" if that were the case.
Even at $1000 the PS4 with PS+ (at $50 a year) would take 12 years to reach that price. Game prices always change, you don't have to buy a game full price/at launch and the free games from paying for PS+ negates an argument in favor of "paying less for the PC version of games" anyway.

Games get translated from english to japanese a lot more often. On top of that Japan is a lot smaller than the U.S. and Eu. They can possibly sell a lot more copies by translating them which is well worth the time spent if the game itself is one that will sell 100k copies or more by being localized.

I don't agree with their assessment of DriveClubs visuals either but I do agree with this:

Those indie tiles, F2P games and free PS+ titles make PS4s launch lineup annihilate the X1s launch lineup in my opinion. Obviously fans of title like Forza might disagree but from what I've seen PS4 isn't going to be leaving anyone disappointed.
I'd say just stay in and call off from work that day, pop some popcorn and watch it go down from the safety of your home. Never go out into a sh storm.
...No one from the US would import from the UK at that price, that's ridiculous. Anyone from the UK lucky enough to find a decently priced import from a reliable source would benefit though.

Yeah the comparison is with using a phone as a game controller or for a handheld map. I don't really see the allure in those particular features though with use on a creative game like Project Spark I could see it being handy. Other than that the comparisons PS fans are making is based on the other, similar features.
Seems really/a lot more useful on something like Project Spark as well.

Not to mention the fact that you're keeping both versions for that HD upgrade which means you could still play the current gen version with your friends on that system that haven't upgraded or moved to the same next gen system as you. All for a total of $70

How much did it cost the developers to make the game, higher cost = higher price. Maybe pikmin disn't cost as much to make as The Woderful 101 or maybe all the money spent on advertising it added to the cost? Maybe they just expected the wonderful 101 to sell better? The game looks way more fun to play than Pikmin does in my eyes.
How much anticipation is there, is it expected to sell really well? FF gam...
A lot of japanese translation don't take their cultural saying into consideration. A direct translation is a faster route, what you do is more in line with "going the extra mile" and you should appreciate the level of detail in your work because of that but if time is of the essence a quicker translation can be better.
