Yeah that basically equates to US gamers being more comfortable with standardized pricing. It just "makes sense" because it's what we've dealt with for decades so we go along with it.
My thoughts exactly, with next gen on the horizon they should drop current gen prices.
How is it the same game when it's literally a better version of the game on a technical level?
Even some games allowing more online players per map than the PS3 version. It's not the same.
I don't think the difference is worth an extra $10 but all the Japan pricing is pretty high to begin with. For U.S. and EU people it might be a $4 difference, for comparisons sake.
If you ever looked at game prices in Japan in general you'd know that they aren't a standard price like they are in U.S. anyway. Most retail games out here launch at $60 but in Japan it's based on fan anticipation, AAA games and sequels with fanbases cost more than new IPs or games from new developers. Generally games that are more expensive to make go for a higher price too. A PS4 game can easily be seen as more valuable than a PS3 game so in Japan it makes sense.

Touchpad itself is a button, true, but don't forget about the existence of R3 and L3. Clicking in on the analogue sticks would make sense as left/right mouse click as well, more so than the touchpad sense it's just a one-click button.
If it already allows basic functionality then opening up its other abilities shouldn't be difficult at all. This is great news but I hope the touch pad works from the start, would be pretty cool. Getting the speaker, or better yet the audio jack to output PC audio would be fantastic! This controller would (most likely will) instantly replace the 360 controller as the controller of choice for PC gamers. PC devs at every convention so far have been seen showing off their games using the PS4...

So basically the PS App and X1 version of Smartglass will let you do the same things (though the article is assuming MS will follow all of Sonys features). In addition to that, because of the option of using the PS App on a Vita, the PS App is better, as Vita has real controls, unlike a tablet or touch-based Smartphone. Add Gaikai and the situation blows MS out the water.

The 360 version is obviously/definitely missing its HD Texture pack. Why would they release the Beta in this form? They should know that this will negatively impact interest in the game even though it's definitely not going to ship to retail looking like that.

It's only a 180 if you say no, then change your mind to yes, or something similar. Sony is changing a standard function to be more user friendly based on request. The HDMI video capture protection is standard on all bluray players, they're going out of their way to change this standard for the fans. A 180 would be if they said "We won't be be doing/allowing this." and later changed because of backlash.
HDMI capturing will be patched, there's ways around the protection that people serious about game capture should already be aware of/have anyway.

As far as changing your user name goes, Japanese PSN accounts/users have had this ability for a long time. It's not "hard to do", it's just not implemented in other countries...

If a retailer up an told me I couldn't buy my pre-ordered launch day console the way I ordered it and would have to upgrade it to a more costly bundle I would either have them charged with false advertisement or drop that day 1 pre-order and get it in store (unbundled) on launch day.
