It took me about 5 hours. I could have easily rushed through it in 4 but I had fun messing around with different strategies and attack combinations.
Interesting how polarized the reviews have become. Its either an 8/9 or a 4/5. The feature(or lack there-of)that seems to be the deciding factor is the length.
I finished it yesterday and am playing through a second time - I would give it an 8 only because the story could have been so much more. Fantastic game overall.
@Active Reload
Yeah, I paid $60 for it. For me it is worth every penny because I am big on fast, deep gameplay with a lot of options. The gameplay is incredibly polished. - Its clear that they put a lot of effort into fluidity.
Its interesting that my opinion is a polar opposite to yours because Vanquish and Enslaved are very much the same way. With Vanquish, the priority was its gameplay - the story leaves much to be desired; with Enslaved, the story...
@ Active Reload
Enslaved IS crap. I share the setiment that there needs to be more 'non-shooter' games but Enslaved doesn't deserve some of the applause it has received. that and Vanquish's gameplay beats Enslaved's senseless.
Enslaved's Auto-platforming, shoddy framerate, stagnant(button mashy) battle system is maddening for an action/platforming lover like myself. - Oh god, Devil May Cry is in trouble.

It is an interesting listing, but I would take it with a grain of salt. Developers do this all the time. - If someone is familiar with developing a game on the xbox360 archetecture, it is easier for them to learn how to work on the PS3 archetecture than say if they had only previously worked on the DS.
If you remember, a few months back, Naughty Dog had a job posting asking for xbox360 experience, but there is no way in hell Uncharted 3 is multiplat.

I can't wait for this game to come out. Yeah, it might be shorter than most games, but if I enjoy the full release as much as I did the demos, it will be a welcomed change from recent releases. - Just got 'Enslaved', I actually wish IT were shorter. if the gameplay were cut completely it would be perfect. I think it's awful - I personally hate the 'protect the vulnerable girl' mechanic.
@jden28
Strange comment. You argue that we should give Kinect a chance because we are gamers - yet you say that you are getting Kinect for your girlfriend.
You are clueless. Please stop posting non-sense.
I spent many many hours playing the game so that "the world might be mended".
5.83 million people that have nightmares about sore button mashing thumbs and running down endless corridors.
I agree completely with Ken Levine. So many gamers and industry types have lost sight of the core of the medium - the game.
I find it rediculous that devlopers like Ninja Theory can make comments about how the graphics and story are more important than the gameplay. If we continue to diminish the interactivity of video games, then the industry will be consumed by movies and interactive art will never be taken seriously.
I think that reviewers are some o...
There still needs to be someone at the head to manage the creative direction of the project. I don't care if you have 50 incredibly talented people building a game, if there isn't someone with vision to lead the pack, you will end up with a shiny, but incoherent piece of crap.
I couldn't agree more.
This is good. Anytime a JRPG has tried to be revolutionary this generation, I have absolutely despised it. - Final Fantasy XIII in recent memory. Id be content with a new, beatiful, story driven JRPG, with a competent battle system in this desert of uninspired "revolution".
I wasn't really impressed with the trailer, and it also gave a few cues to how the gameplay would be fleshed out which has me concerned.
Weapon Morphing -
Ninja Theory thought they were geniuses when they made Heavenly Sword include a morphing weapon. This is a cop out when each iteration of the weapon adds no value to the battle system. Hmm.. should I mash square while holding L1, or mash while holding R1. It never mattered.

Devil May Cry used to be one of my favorite franchises. Unsurprisingly, Ninja Theory have ruined Dante. Almost as much as the horrible character design, I am concerned that this game is being handled by a company that has said a few times that Story is more important than gameplay. Thanks for nothing Ninja Theory you are a black mark on the video game medium.
I don't understand why you keep bouncing from article to article trying to perputuate the idea that this is a younger dante. You must not be familiar with the games. He is young in DMC3!
It is much easier to draw the conclusion that Ninja Theory absolutely suck at character design and have no respect for an iconic video game character.
They might as well have been given the megaman franchise and given him a Justin Bieber haircut and high heels.
No, Heavenly Sword was a shitty game. Everytime I go back to play it, it gets worse and worse. Boring, shallow combat, fighting wave after wave of identical enemy, awful level and character design. Ninja Theory is a horrible game developer. They do put a LOT of love into cutscenes which were very impressive.
I couldn't agree more. Strangely, there are a lot of people on n4g that liked heavenly sword, but personally, it is by far the worst game I have ever purchased.
Ninja Theory are awful developers, and the fact that they continue to make statements about how 'Story is more important than gameplay' and how 'making Heavenly Sword was such a terrible experience' destroys what little credibility they have in the video game space.
Well guess...
I agree that Gears shouldn't get all the credit for the cover system, games like Metal Gear and even Space Invaders used cover. Gears DID popularize and streamline the cover mechanic though and for that it can be congratulated.
At this point every mechanic has been explored in some fashion. - Game design at this point is really combining various complimentary successful mechanics to make a solid product. Vanquish did a good job with this.
