According to this PDF from Square, they are using an AMD 6990 to run the demo.

In the actual demonstration video, she says they're using "off the shelf" hardware available at any electronics store" sugesting more mainstream high end like 680's and 7970's or even like mentioned, the 6990.

The longer we can wait, the more powerful consoles may turn out to be.

Though I'm worried single 680's and 7970's can run these demos well above 30fps/1080p..

Sqaure's Luminous engine I would dare call fake, or at least too ambitious.

Unreal Engine 4 demo I would call damn cool.

Around $1200 real.

Uhhh, a GTX690 can certainly run Crysis 1 at 1080p with 4xMSAA with a constant 60fps paired with a suffiecient CPU; it's not a single GPU though.

It was very disapointing. Oh well, lesson learned.

They have a lot of work to do if they want to appeal to the PC crowd in a more positive light.

Oh, dang. I'm worried about even my 7970 OC being able to run these level of graphics at above 30fps/1080p!

@RevXM:

I understand the lure in knowing that being able to run a game 60fps under medium settings likely means you can look forward to your next upgrade running the same experience under very high settings.

The issue is in the cost of top tier rigs. I'm grateful to own a 7970, but my CPU, the Phenom ii x4 955, (70% - 99% GPU usage in BF3 64 player matches) is just about due for an upgrade. However, I just can't afford the $670+ to put in the i7-3770k...

When can we download this demo to play with for ourselves on our own hardware?

5014d ago 1 agree1 disagreeView comment

Right, with more complex graphics comes more efficient workflow.

Similar to what happens when a new die size is released for hardware: e.g., 32nm to 22nm — it dramatically reduces heat and power requirements, which is then countered by more transistors and faster clock speeds, thus improving actual performance. Same logic with the next gen engines and the development process.

The money comes in actually developing the new tech; not necessarily implementing i...

God, I sure hope it runs on single 680's and 7970's. I just bought and overclocked a 7970; it's just too much money to see not be able to run this higher quality next gen software.

Who really wants a repeat of 2007's Crysis 1 release, anyways? (In terms of not being able to run it at high settings).

5014d ago 5 agree2 disagreeView comment

I'd just like to hear the 7970 i just bought is enough to run it just as smooth!

5014d ago 0 agree2 disagreeView comment

Yes but what Nvidia hardware was in the PC they used? A single 580? a 590? A 680? A 690? Tri sli 680s? I really hope my 7970 OC is up to par for early next gen games.

5014d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

All I want to hear is that my overclocked 7970 can run games looking like this smoothly.

5014d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

I sure wish they'd say what PC hardware is running this demo so smoothly.

I'm with you, Mr Dead. It's almost like the author is digging for issues; of course there are going to be slight inconsistencies, it's inevitable. Part of the beauty is in how well Naughty Dog is overshadowing them with ingenious technological achievements in other more important aspects that directly affect the actual game play.

I very deeply hope the latest cards such as a single GTX680 can run games like this and Watch Dogs as they looked in their respective demos. I recently purchased a 7970 and overclocked it; it's just too much money to see not be able to run early next gen games at smooth FPS and high resolutions.

I really don't want to relive another 2007 Crysis 1 scenario.

This is actually a good sign, because I very deeply hope the latest cards such as a single GTX680 can run games like this, and Star Wars 1313 as they looked in their respective demos.
