It will be a peripheral. Rock Band didn't break up the install base did it? Most likely the games that use it will be made exclusively for it. Normal games will still be the primary focus and wouldn't "have" to try and tack on motion controls. They could if they wanted to.

Mario Sunshine did nothing innovative but add a water jet pack and slightly better graphics. GTA IV isn't just a graphics upgrade. GTA IV has tons of innovation including the first use of the Euphoria physics engine.
You obviously have an agenda against GTA IV and would rather see other games that you like take the spotlight.
Its not a joke its a valid question. I own both systems and have played many online games on PS3... I've yet to see a counter noting how many people are connected in general let alone by game type.

Rockstar hasn't said what was cut because it would contain spoilers. They want gamers to experience the game for themselve. After release day it will all come out but not before hand.
No. Rockstar is a business out to make money. It's not Rockstars responsibility to appeal and fight every nanny government in the world. Just as any business they make decisions intended to make the most money possible. Because Australia is a smaller market they just edited the game rather than fight it out.
If it wasn't for Rockstar there wouldn't even be any mature games anyway. They've done more to push the boundaries than any other developer.

Vader's secret apprentice in this game and the news of Anikan's padawon in the coming Clone Wars movie really sealed the deal. Lucas is blatantly milking SW now. Don't get me wrong the idea of playing as Vaders apprentice is exciting and I'm buying this game day one but come on it wreaks of milking and I'm not even a hardcore SW fan.
While there are really rabid Halo fans its undeniable GTA is more widely known and loved. Halo 3 has a lot of haters whether they just don't like the game or they're Sony/PC fanboys. Fans of all platforms love GTA.

They pretty much openly parody the GTA franchise. While I'm a hardcore GTA fan (taking off a full week of work for GTA IV) I'm still excited for Saints Row 2. It can't stand up the greatness that is GTA IV but its still fun for sandbox fans. I'll be picking up a copy...
There is money to be made it will just take a company like Rockstar to keep using the boundaries.
Digital Distribution and mail order will help. By being able to bypass brick and mortar stores using services like Steam companies can dip their toe into the water without as much overhead.

I think a lot of people commenting are selectively jaded when it comes to this game. I agree Black is a good example of a game not meeting hype but in Black's case it was more of a promise. You can tell by the screenshots and concept of Mirror's Edge that its attempting something revolutionary. I can't wait to check this game out.

Atleast not me. I'll be playing The Getaway but I'm not expecting it to be close to GTA IV. The previous The Getaway games were pretty graphics and horrible gameplay when compared to GTA.
People should just let The Getaway stand on its own and leave GTA IV out of it.
Mentioning GTA IV and hyping it as the GTA killer like they always have will mean disgrace for The Getaway. It can't match GTA IV features for feature. Graphics are great but don't trump everything....

#1 - Sony has admitted to not pursuing GTA timed exclusivity or any other kind of exclusivity with Rockstar this generation. They're focusing on first party development this generation rather than securing third party exclusivity.
#2 - If the game isn't developed by a first party developer its going multiplatform this generation simply due to higher production costs.
