Sakura Wars wasn't really their PS2 game. They just took a very long time to localize it.

As for making PS2-quality games, the president of NIS (this dude's the pres. of NISA) said that they were working on making better looking PS3 games to catch up with the generation. HD sprites or cell-shaded 3D is fine by me.

What the article's author doesn't seem to mention is that the collection of PlayStation Plus content expires if you don't sign up and purchase it before the sale ends. For example: once Wipeout HD is retired from the PS+ list of freebies, it's gone for good for any new subscribers.

If you want the compounded advantage of multiple months worth of free content, you need to actually subscribe and purchase the content (free or not). So if you REALLY don't ca...

@qface64 Sony could provide the dev studios to do the HD ports. Or just plain publish them if the respective companies don't want to invest in that.

@Lucreto YES, Suikoden collection including the Gaiden games (that we never got), Card Stories, and a proper (read: consistent) localization of the games. (Sindar/Cyndar is one blatant example)

EE was also emulated on the first 80GB PS3 SKU in North America (and Japan?). All other SKUs after that don't have the Graphics Synthesizer, including the Slim model.

People have crunched the numbers before and already came up with a resounding "not possible" when trying to consider the possibility of PS2 backwards compatibility on those systems. If you look, you'll notice that 80% of games work on 80GB PS3s compared to near-100% for the 60GB model. Now c...

No, Emotion Engine is emulated on 80GB PS3s. As sikbeta pointed out, it's the Graphics Synthesizer (GPU) that was the last piece of PS2 hardware left. All SKUs after the MGS/Motorstorm 80GB model don't have the GPU, which in turn makes it absolutely impossible to emulate PS2 games anymore.

More like 6, if you don't include Final Fantasy 1 & 2 that released on the Famicom nor the Wii Virtual Console version.

MSX, WonderSwan, PSOne, Gameboy Advance, PSP, iPhone.

If that were the case, then you'd have to add that much money for every single additional player in the household. That's also another flaw in the article: it details adding a second controller, but anyone who's ever bought a console buys a second controller for supporting multiple players in a local environment. That's not possible for PC unless you shell out money for multiple USB game pads (about the same price as console ones, especially wireless ones) or get another PC ...

As much as I loved seeing the new translation and features in the PSP version, the constant slowdown for almost every attack proved to be a deal breaker for me. I subsequently got the PSOne version from the store and noticed that it runs WAY faster during attacks.

Here's hoping this version fixes those problems, since I'd love to have a perfect version of The War of the Lions.

Agreed. The cost analysis of each console is flawed, especially if you're a bargain hunter (which the author seems to imply is the case when looking for PC items, but NOT when looking for console items). It's interesting that the most accurate part of the analysis is exclusively the cost of PC gaming.

Let's not forget: Kinect isn't officially priced yet, you can get a year of Live Gold for under $50 these days, the PSN+ offer is NOT required to play online, ...

Well, there IS a new Top Gun game coming out on PSN (not sure about any other platforms right now).

I've always wanted a Suikoden HD collection (HD sprites for the first two games, HD 3D graphics for the last three & Tactics, including Card Stories and Gaiden)

The article is obviously written by someone who doesn't follow up on Q-Games at all. They have already stated that Racers 2 is a way of making the game equal to the other titles in the series (namely trophy support and adding more features). As for Shooter 2, it ties directly into the ending of Shooter 1.

It's his so-called "Video Game Week". Tonight he has Killzone 3 and on Friday he supposedly has an "exclusive announcement". No platform, company or anything has been revealed about it, so we'll just have to wait.

Ar tonelico III is only published by Namco in Japan. NIS America seems to have a quasi-monopoly on the NA localizations of Gust games. Since NISA fired the group responsible for Ar tonelico II's problematic release and are now localizing Atelier Rorona, I don't see why Gust would want to prevent them from doing ArIII.

They always announced the game as "coming to DS and another console". People just assumed it would be the Wii since the game relies heavily on a motion-controlled spellcasting system, but it looks like it will be on the PS3 instead. With the Move coming out this fall, one would guess that this game will take advantage of it (but I still hope it won't be a game-wide requirement).

Then again, if there was any game that could make me buy Move, this would be that ...

Level-5 already confirmed that your avatar gets its own customizable knight. Turns go by faster in general, graphics are slightly improved, multiplayer is upped to 6 person parties, etc.

No news on New Game + actually offering any new challenge, though.

@Newtype: Exactly, but it's not the first time I've seen the title be used outside of Japan as such.

Sorry to tell you, but it appears they already have a tentative localization of the title already: The Another World.

If Nintendo is on board, the DS version is a shoe-in for US release. Same goes for the PS3 release if Sony is also on board.

Considering how Princess Mononoke is still regarded as one of the greatest Japanese animation productions of recent times, they would do well to name drop Studio Ghibli's portfolio to get more support.

Then again, amidst all that we also have Level-5 who wants to start localizing their games themselves. That could lead to them usi...

@Redrum059: All of them are in-game. andriasang now has comparison shots between the anime movie and the game and it's REALLY close.
