No official announcement of the mode yet, nor it being F2P. I mean, even rumors, I haven't seen any mention it's F2P.

They do update the game weekly with the Icetide new stuff. That said, this doesn't look good. Like, it does feel like they are abandoning it or maybe they're too busy doing the rumored reboot.
Everybody is rooting for this. If DICE doesn't do this, they're going to get flamed.
